Increase in NIH Funding for Scleroderma in 2008
For many years, funding for scleroderma research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) remained level at $11–12 million per year. NIH is now reporting that approximately $20 million was awarded through various institutions to scleroderma research.
Congress had requested that the NIH provide a better means of organizing its data in order to more accurately reflect the overall distribution of its funds. NIH has since embarked on this initiative, and in turn, created a more transparent system whereby parties can search for funding statistics by topic and/or title. The NIH's new data system uses text data mining and NIH-approved terms to classify and match all projects with their respective categories. This new method of reporting provides a more accurate representation of the total amount of funding made each year towards a specific disease, like scleroderma.

An excellent way to determine whether you're buying healthy food is to read the ingredient list. But who has time for that? When I'm in the grocery store, I race through the aisles like a lunatic, trying to keep my two young children from melting down or piling unwanted items into my cart. |
