Fathers with Scleroderma Needed for Research Study on Parenting

Researchers from the University of New Mexico are seeking participants for a study exploring the impact of symptoms, such as pain and fatigue, on parenting in fathers who have systemic sclerosis (scleroderma). Fathers with scleroderma who have children between birth and 18 years of age who are living with them, may be eligible to participate in an interview and survey. Researchers funded by the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) have identified a new method to diagnose and monitor cartilage changes in people with osteoarthritis (OA). Their discovery, which was reported in the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences," holds promise for interventions to preserve joint function in individuals identified at early stages of the disease.
