WHEN:
Wednesday
evening, July 21 7:00 - 9:00 PM
BIO: Rev. Fred
Plumer earned his M.Div. degree in the early eighties at the Pacific School of
Religion, and has been involved with the Jesus Seminar since that time. In 1984
he was called to lead a United Congregational Church (UCC) new start church in
Irvine, California. The church became known throughout the denomination as one
of the more exciting and progressive mid-size congregations in the nation. In
2004, he retired from the Irvine church so he could devote more time to writing
and his passion-reclaiming the message of Jesus. A member of the Executive
Council for The Center for Progressive Christianity (TCPC) since 1995, he became
TCPC's president in 2006 upon the retirement of its founder, Rev. Jim Adams.
Rev. Fred wrote "The Study Guide" for TCPC's "Eight Points of Progressive
Christianity", and he has published articles on church development, building
faith communities, and redefining the purpose of the enlightened Christian
Church. For more information about the
