"There has been a change in men's attitudes toward their clothes. Men are more aware of fashion; they're not afraid of it."

DRESSING WELL PAYS DIVIDENDS

Header
There is all sorts of evidence that dressing well "pays dividends". In a study conducted by Kelton Research it was determined that well-dressed men are seen as sexier, smarter, and more successful. The study showed that 91% of Americans think dressing well can make a man appear more physically attractive than he actually is, 75% of Americans believe well-dressed men are more successful at work, and some 78% of women think one of the hottest things a man can do is dress well. In fact some 85% think a man who dresses well is sexier than one with a lot of money. The study revealed that nearly three out of four men feel underdressed most of the time, so it's no wonder that so many dislike and lack confidence in shopping for clothing.

According to behavioral finance expert Meir Statman, author and business professor at Santa Clara University, "the recession has stirred men's competitive juices and they see dressing better as giving them a competitive edge." In his book What Investors Really Want, Stattman devotes a chapter to buying clothes. "Clothing are visible status goods. You can have very chic furniture in your home, but only friends and family see your home. Many more people see your clothes, your watch, your car. People compete with clothes."

Let's get to work on your wardrobe. Don't be a "wardrobe casualty". If 3 out of 4 men feel underdressed most of the time, you certainly can distinguish yourself with your wardrobe and appearance.

THE "NEW" POWER SUIT

Header

Double-breasted suits are no longer the domain of movie gangsters and hard-bitten bosses. When personally tailored to your form, double-breasted suits can create an undeniably powerful silhouette.

If you're not familiar with how to wear a double-breasted suit, try these tips:

  • Keep it buttoned-Double-breasted suit coats are crafted to look fantastic when buttoned, even when you're sitting.
  • Simplicity is elegance-This is your power suit. Choose a dark fabric, and don't clutter the look with too many details.
  • Power shirts-Consider dressing up your shirt choices to complement the suit with a spread collar and French cuffs. A pocket square adds panache.

Please give us a call if you'd like to discuss whether a double-breasted suit is right for you.
