BikeFest is Back! August 6-15

bike to work dayJoin us August 6 for one of Pittsburgh's Best Parties

BikeFest is almost here AGAIN, and it's time to get ready for one of the best parties in Pittsburgh - BikePGH's BikeFest Kickoff Fundraiser Party!

The annual 12-day BikeFest includes tons of great bike-themed events, created by cyclists, for cyclists.  Be sure to check out some new events, like the Flock of Cycles rides or a lecture by "Lost Cyclist" author David Herlihy, as well as some tried and true classics like the ride to the World Pinball Championships or PTAG's mountain bike rides.

Friday August 6: BikeFest Kickoff Fundraiser Party

Our largest party of the year kicks off BikeFest in style, and raises funds to support BikePGH's advocacy efforts like bike lanes, the Pittsburgh Bike Map, and bike racks.

bike to work dayVIP Event 6:30-8:00

The VIP Event helps raise funds for BikePGH's work in a big, big way.  We have star-chef and cyclist, Kevin Sousa (Salt of the Earth) catering the event, as well as marimba virtuoso Marcus Kim providing the music.

Main Event 8:00-12:00

After the VIP event, the main event will kick into gear with DJs, a photo booth, a silent auction, dancing and more!  As usual, there will be tons of swag that will be raffled off and available in the silent auction.  Stay tuned to our website for details.

Food from Whole Foods and Dozen as well as local beer from the Penn Brewery.

The party will again be at Pittsburgh Opera, in the Strip District - 2425 Liberty Avenue.

Avoid the long lines to get into the party, make sure to buy your tickets in advance!

Problem: I can't make the BikeFest Kickoff Fundraising Party, but I still want to support BikePGH's work. What can I do?
Solution: Become a member, spread the word to family and friends, ride your bicycle, renew your membership, repeat.

All of our programs that support, encourage, and protect Pittsburgh cyclists are costly.  Especially when we have to drop everything we're doing to deal with dangerous rants against cyclists on our airwaves, an issue that we recently had to deal with when local DJ Mike Pintek daydreamed about running down cyclists.

Please become a member and make sure that we will be here working on your behalf for years to come!

There are plenty of ways to help make Pittsburgh more bike-friendly

Introducing our newest Board Member: Beth Hazlett

beth hazlettWelcome to the Board, Beth!

Beth is a Strategic Account Manager for McGraw-Hill Construction, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies.  Beth cannot remember a time when she did not ride a bike - there are even pictures of her on the back of her Dad's bike when she was a baby.  A native of Pittsburgh, she loves cycling on the roads here and overseas.  Most vacations are spent on a bicycle traveling the roads of another country.

She is passionate about the idea that bikes and cars can safely share the road.  She is also passionate about getting as many people on bicycles as possible - it's fun and it's healthy.  Beth rides with Lou's Crew on most Saturdays and Sundays.  Her favorite "city ride" is to the top of Mt. Washington either in the early morning or just before sunset. Beth also serves as an Ambassador at the Pittsburgh Public Theater.  She is a graduate of Fox Chapel High School and Smith College.
