Bicycling Magazine: Pittsburgh goes from one of the worst cities for cycling in the nation to 28th best

Pittsburgh makes the Bike-Friendly City List
Here's a list we never thought we'd be on only eight years ago - when people would tell us we were crazy for trying to start a bicycle advocacy organization because no one rides bikes in Pittsburgh.  Well, 1,100 members later, Bicycling magazine, who once ranked Pittsburgh among the worst cities in the country to ride a bike, just ranked us 28th best - inched out by Milwaukee, Boston, and Philadelphia.

Bicycling Magazine noted some BikePGH initiatives as reasons for the increased rank.

BikePGH job opening
We're growing & need to double our membership/outreach efforts
Bicycling has taken off in leaps and bounds here in Pittsburgh, and so has our membership necessitating a full-time membership and outreach coordinator. The position's top priorities are to grow and develop our individual and corporate membership program, and to coordinate our outreach/volunteer initiatives in the city and surrounding municipalities.

The ideal candidate is very detail oriented, charismatic, a good writer, works well both as part of a team and independently, and believes strongly in making Pittsburgh a better place to ride a bike.

We are seeking an individual with 1-3 years experience, a college degree, and the passion and creativity to build an effective and engaged membership for a small, but growing organization. We offer very competitive benefits, a fun working environment, and the opportunity to work for a cause in which you believe.
