Action Alert! Contact your City Councilperson to vote YES to more bicycle parking
Take 30 seconds to email City Council using our secure form - It's easy!
Pittsburgh cyclists are one step closer to more and better bike parking throughout the City. The Planning Commission unanimously passed a Proposed Bicycle Parking Ordinance on September 1st of this year.

This ordinance is integral to continue on the road toward a green, sustainable, and active city.  In short, it requires that new buildings install bicycle parking, just like they need to for cars.

Next stop: City Council
We need you, the grassroots, to let City Council know the importance of this ordinance

Ever ridden to a shiny new building and had nowhere to lock your bike?

Of course you have.
So please take a moment to contact your City Councilperson.

Fresh Forbes Ave Bike Lanes and Sharrows in Squirrel Hill

Clearly marked bicycle network taking shape in Squirrel Hill
Forbes Avenue, one of the major roads in the City, received bicycle-friendly treatments from Margaret Morrison (just east of CMU) to Murdoch, with the plan to continue the markings through Frick Park and on up to S. Braddock Ave.

The 2.3 mile stretch, when complete, will be a combination of bike lanes (whenever the street is wide enough) and shared lane markings, or "sharrows," when the road narrows, or is a steep downhill.

These markings, along with curb bump-outs, are meant to slow cars down, creating a more livable Forbes Ave.

Membership is our most important source of income. The more members we have, the stronger our voice!  When you visit other bike-friendly cities in America and wonder why Pittsburgh isn't the same...remember, those cities weren't always that way.  They became bike-friendly due to a strong grassroots movement that was at the table, representing the needs of cyclists.  Pittsburgh is no exception.
