Planning Commission unanimously passes proposed Bicycle Parking Ordinance
|
|
Next stop, City Council
Many cities already have a similar ordinance in place. Pictured is a transit stop in Chicago.
Ever showed up to a shiny new building and couldn't find a place to park your bike? Well, an important bike parking ordinance is making it's way through the City's legal process.
Basically, buildings are often erected or refurbished without any
thought put into where residents, employees and customers can safely
park a bicycle.
We're trying to change that. The proposed ordinance, based off of successes in other cities, requires developers to install bike parking in any new or change of use in a development.
It passed through the planning commission unanimously, and now must go to City Council for approval.
