Bike Pittsburgh Hosts Bike Valet For Art All Night
|
|
Ride and we'll valet park your bike and watch it free of charge!
Art All Night in Lawrenceville is one of Pittsburgh's most
popular and populist arts events.
This
year the organizers are making a conscious effort to reduce the overall
carbon footprint (see below) of the event by encouraging people to walk, bike, take
public transit, or carpool.
Bike Pittsburgh
is providing a bike valet service (think of it as a coat check, but for
bikes) so that you don't have to worry about your ride while you enjoy
the art and music. Wondering about your carbon footprint as it relates
to getting around? Click here to estimate yours.

Teaser: Online Pittsburgh Bike Map Nears Launch
|
|
Now it will be even easier to find the safer cycling routes
Once it goes live, Pittsburgh cyclists will be able to use the map to find the safer routes around town, as well as to things such as cultural institutions, transit amenities, and points of interest. We will also have cautionary notes and information on reported crash locations to help cyclists stay safe be aware of potential hazards.
Funded by the Heinz Endowmets and designed by the East Liberty firm, deepLocal, the map is overlaid on a Google map, so you'll be able to toggle between the map, satellite, and terrain view as well as import the map into Google Earth!
We'll keep you updated for when we officially launch the online version of our map. This will be the most comprehensive online bike map in the country!
If you like our work on the print edition and you want to support more work along these lines. Please Donate to our efforts. Every bit helps us continue our work to make Pittsburgh a more bike-friendly city!

Trail Wayfinder signs
|
|
Mayor Ravenstahl on hand to install final sign
This past week, the City installed almost 90 Trail Wayfinder signs around town. These signs were installed to help cyclists, runners, and other trail users find one of our most valuable resources, the trails. Since the trails are known as "hard to find," the placement of the signs were concentrated on main arterial streets. We think this is a great step in showing off these amazing commuting and recreational amenities. Mayor Luke Ravenstahl was on hand to install the final Neville St. sign on Monday, April 22, as well as to speak about the importance of a city-wide bicycle commuter network. Read more about the Trail Wayfinder Signs and view some photos
