|
Need some unique gift ideas for that cyclist in your life?
Check out the Bike Pittsburgh Website!
What better gift is there for a cyclist than the gift of safe cycling? Bike Pittsburgh offers a Gift Membership that not only helps support our work of making the streets safer, but will give your favorite cyclist discounts at most local bike shops. After becoming a member, just send along an email to membership@bike-pgh.org with the giftee's name, address, email, and phone number if you've got it. We'll get the membership to them before the holidays, and we'll even include a card that it's from you! Also, don't forget to check out our Gear Section. Inside you'll find some classy looking Bike Pittsburgh Shirts as well as links to locally made (sometimes handmade) cycling goods and gear.

Dirty Dozen 2007
|
|
129 riders competed this year!
Pittsburgh's legendary Dirty Dozen bike race up the thirteen steepest hills took place last weekend. One of the hills includes Canton Ave, arguably the steepest street in the world at 37% grade.
Congrats to Steevo Cummings (our T-shirt model at the end of this email) for finishing in first for the fourth year in a row!
Check out some of Brad Quartuccio's photos of the race here.

Logging Your Bicycling Complaints is as Easy as 3-1-1
|
|
Non-emergency Response Line is a great way to make your bicycling concerns known
Always have to swerve to avoid that dangerous pothole? Cars going way too fast on a certain stretch of road? Is the lack of a safe on-street connection into Oakland from Downtown getting you down? Call 311!
311 isn't a magic bullet, but it does create a paper trail and complaints will get sent to the appropriate department to be addressed. It's easy, and only takes a minute of your time. Personally, we've had a decent amount of success with 3-1-1 especially getting dangerous potholes repaired and having debris removed from trails. If you want to go the extra mile and you have a specific need that should be addressed in the neighborhood in which you live, don't be shy - Contact your Councilperson.
