Bike to Work Day: May 18th
Mark your calendars and gear up!
bike to work day

Every year Bike Pittsburgh organizes local festivities during National Bike to Work Week. Invariably it rains. This year we're shortening it to Bike to Work DAY. So tune up your bike and ride to work!

Biker Breakfasts:

  • 8am-10am (City-County Bldg Portico): Join us Downtown at the City-County Building Portico for a free biker breakfast and giveaway!

  • 8am-10am (Carnegie Mellon University): Join Bike Pittsburgh and CMU's Green Practices Committee for a free breakfast and giveaway on CMU's campus in Oakland near the University Center. All cyclists are welcome, not just the CMU cycling community.

  • 8am-10am (REI - South Side Works): REI will be hosting their own biker breakfast with giveaways on Bike to Work Day. If you live or work in the South Side, this will be the most convenient place to get some food, bike swag, and hang out on Bike to Work Day.

We're Turning Five!
And you're invited to our party!
bike pittsburgh's fifth birthday
Mark your calendars bike people. Bike Pittsburgh is turning five and you're invited to celebrate this momentous occasion with us! There's going to be good food and drinks, as well as a brief award ceremony honoring dedicated bike advocates. We'll also be showing the short bike advocacy film, Contested Streets. It's going to be a great time!

When: Friday, May 18th (Bike to Work Day), 6-10pm (movie starts at 7pm)
Where: Attack Theatre (corner of Penn Ave & Mathlida St, Garfield)
Donation: $3 with membership card, $5 non-member
Iron City Populaire
iron city populaire Rescheduled for Sat. May 5

Due to poor weather on April 14th, the ride has been rescheduled for May 5th. The ride will begin at 9:00am (still at Beleza in the North Side), with registration beginning at 8:30am.

This is a long distance, self supported benefit ride for Bike Pittsburgh ($5 donation).  It's all about having fun, and testing your own limits, be that simply finishing within the time limit, or riding flat out.

What to expect: Bike Lanes, Shared Lane Markings, and Signs

We are pleased to announce that the Richard King Mellon Foundation has given us a grant to assist the City of Pittsburgh in getting more bike lanes, SLMs, and bike route signage throughout Pittsburgh. We are excited about our new partnership with the Department of Public Works, and  we thank the RK Mellon Foundation for their continued support!

Save the Dates: BikeFest '07!

June 28 - July 8

We've set the dates for the third annual Bike Pittsburgh BikeFest - a ten-day celebration of cycling in Pittsburgh. For those of you who aren't familiar with BikeFest, it's an event of, for, and by the Pittsburgh cycling community. BikeFest is not an organized event, but a framework for cyclists, like you, to organize events. It's a lot of fun, so get your thinking helmets on, come up with an interesting event, and propose it to us. Learn More »
