BIKE PITTSBURGH TO DEVELOP A COMMUTER BICYCLE MAP
The first on-street Pittsburgh bicycle map since the Sophie Masloff administration!

MapHub designed map of Pittsburgh's SouthsideYou heard it here first!  Bike Pittsburgh recently received funding from The Heinz Endowments to develop Pittsburgh's first handheld commuter map since the Masloff administration's 1992 bicycle map.

We are partnering with Pittsburgh-based DeepLocal, the folks behind Pittsburgh's MapHub website, to do the design work.  Especially exciting, is that the handheld map will be supplemented by an interactive online map where cyclists can create points of interest, communicate with other cyclists, and help one another navigate the city.

So be sure to stay tuned to our website for developments of this future exciting resource.
BIKE PITTSBURGH ATTENDS NATIONAL BIKE SUMMIT

dirt rag ad

The National Bike Summit is an opportunity to inform our members of Congress of the importance of bicycling, and to educate them on specific bicycling issues.  It's also one of the largest gatherings of national bicycle advocates, so time is made to network, attend workshops, and to strategize.

In attendence were some notable politians such as Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer, as well as some famous cyclists and industry gurus Floyd Landis and Kozo Shimano.

SAVE THE DATES: BIKEFEST '07!

June 28 - July 8

We've set the dates for the third annual Bike Pittsburgh BikeFest - a ten-day celebration of cycling in Pittsburgh. For those of you who aren't familiar with BikeFest, it's an event of, for, and by the Pittsburgh cycling community. BikeFest is not an organized event, but a framework for cyclists, like you, to organize events. It's a lot of fun, so get your thinking helmets on, come up with an interesting event, and propose it to us. Learn More »
