News From The Wine Room
I just finished tasting two wines that I
think you will love! One is a 2009 Alain Corcia Bourgogne Pinot Noir.
A great value, this youthful French Burgundy definitely has the classic pinot "nose" and a touch of wood, that set off fresh, ripe red cherry, vibrant acidity and round flavors! It is an excellent wine for its level. 13% alcohol, it would be beautiful with grilled salmon or pork tenderloin.
Regular price, $171/12 btls, order it now through Monday, June 6 at $160/12 btls, $85/6 btls

My other find was the 2007 Begnardi Ceneo Montecucco Sangiovese DOC. This little known wine is a single vineyard 100% Sangiovese from the Maremma area of Tuscany. Begnardi is a very small family-owned winery run by a lovely couple, Lucca who is the winemaker, and his wife Francesca. They also run a little restaurant and inn in the area. The wine is intense ruby red in color, full-bodied, deep, elegant and persistent. In the mouth it is harmonious with pleasing tannins and a long finish, rich with dark fruit! It is very well balanced and delicious. Tony is braising lamb shanks with rosemary and tomatoes in the kitchen right now, and this Montecucco Sangiovese would be a perfect match!
