Bienvenue a Pellston!!
April in Pellston, the tulips are rising and the daffodils are hiding, but, close your eyes and use your imagination and before you know it you're in Paris!
Well we may not have the Jardin du Luxembourg with its magnigicent sculptures, but we do have Antiques, Arts and Collectibles
and a fabulous bistro - La Marche du Pellston, otherwise known as Pellston Market!
Each April I say the same thing, grab a friend and head up to Pellston, the Paris of the North, and go antiquing and then stop by The Market for lunch.
Who can tell what can be found deep in the cave of Diane Kowalski's eclectic shop across from the train depot?
Enjoy your finds over a cup of Chocolat Chaude or Cafe Presse, and maybe add a Sandwich Jambon Suisse Grille!!
Market Hours Tuesday through Staurday 10 - 4 A Bientot!! |

Just Arrived this week,
New Chocolate Bars
The ultimate artisan "bean- to -bar" Chocolate by Alan McClure of Patric Chocolate in Missouri! Alan is a micro-batch producer and is one of about 13 such artisans in the United States and has been highly regarded by the press even though his company is very young. I have two whole pages just listing the press articles they have received in the past three years.
In 2007 , he introduced his first bar, a 70% with beans grown in the Sambirano Valley in Madagascar. It is lush and inviting w/ notes of citrus, red wine and berries which embody that complex region, but also with additional notes of cream, caramel, spice and pleasant cocoa to round out the profile of this bar that is surprisingly lacking in bitterness!
I know all of that sounds very flowery, but you really can taste the flavors yourself, we were super impressed with the quality and wanted to share it with you.
The following year Alan released his first 67% Madagascar bar, including cocoa butter pressed at the Patric facility from the same beans of origin, a rarity in the industry. It is a lovely chocolate with lively notes of plum preserves that intermingle with fruits rouge and enticing hints of butter hazelnut toffee!
Last we have the magnificent 75% Madagascar thatcame out this year, robust, yet balanced with subtle notes of toasted nuts, coffee, pleasant cocoa and an undercurrent of citrus and berries. The only ingredients are cocoa beans and pure cane sugar.
Come in and we can talk about and taste chocolate! The 50 gr bars are $6.99.
Thanks for reading, Come and Visit! |
