Cutting Edge Electric
LACC Chairman Greetings!

The US economic is starting to show signs of recovery and this bit of good news is trickling out to small businesses across America. The success of the national economic turnaround hinges on small business' ability to expand and create jobs. The SBA received from The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act $730 million to get capital flowing to small businesses (read more here). Local banks however, are still holding back and few are taking the bold steps to again have faith in the strength and perseverance of small businesses leaders and entrepreneurs.

The LACC will host a third community meeting on the proposed Special Service Area for parts of Milwaukee and Armitage avenues on June 10 at 6 pm at the chamber office, you are invited to come and hear about this exciting economic development program.

Saludos,

Elio Montenegro
Chairman

Put Illinois to Work
Census 2010

Put Illinois to Work program is an initiative of Governor Pat Quinn to create jobs throughout Illinois and provide employment experience to those hardest hit by this recession. Put Illinois to Work is funded by the State of Illinois and federal funding made available in the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families Emergency Contingency Fund created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Through Put Illinois to Work, unemployed and underemployed Illinois residents can be placed into subsidized employment positions for up to six months. Under the subsidized employment model, the wages of the participant are provided by state/federal funding, and the employer must provide supervision and training of the participant for the duration of the placement.

The funding expires on September 30, 2010. Therefore all subsidized employment placements must end by that date.  For more details go to:

2010 Census
Census 2010
Census 2010: Census Takers

By being counted you are standing up for what your community's needs are. That's why census takers are so important. A census taker is a person from your community who is hired by the Census Bureau to make sure that your neighborhood gets represented as accurately as possible. The census taker's primary responsibility is to collect census information from residences. Most of these residences have not sent back their 2010 Census form.

If no one answers at a particular residence, a census taker will visit a home up to three times and attempt to reach the household by phone three times. The census worker will leave a double-sided (English and Spanish) NOTICE of VISIT in the doorway that includes a phone number for the resident to schedule an appointment.

Your participation in the 2010 Census is vital and required by law, (Section 221, of Title 13 of the U.S. Code).
