Spring Gardening News

While Spring is finally here, it's still too cold to risk planting in the early weeks of April. It isn't too early however, to finalize garden plans and complete plant catalog orders. If you haven't already done so, take some time to really get to know the site you intend to plant. Plants chosen for color and texture without regard for growing requirements - light, irrigation, soil and space - can lead to disappointment and a sorry state of affairs. Not to mention financial loss and wasted energy. For those planning to sell their home, simple spruce- ups in the form of well-edged beds and a fresh dose of mulch can really add curb appeal. It sends a message of organization and attention to detail. New homeowners should get to know their property before tackling a garden plan. Knowing your land and all its qualities will pay off for the home gardener. Not only will you make educated choices regarding plant material, you have a better chance at success. So pace yourself and resist the urge to plant until you have an intimate knowledge of your new landscape. Here's to dirty fingernails and muddy knees!!!
