    Fall Approaches
    From Jessica Broitman

September is almost upon us- the summer just sped by for me and now vacations are behind us. It is amazing how time is speeding up. But fall approaches and it is a New Year for interns, and for classes.

We have 5 new interns joining us this year. They are Laura Fannon, Beth Kita, Amy Basford, Jan-Martin Berge and Deborah Kory. They eagerly await your referrals.

There are still spaces in our popular post licensure training program so call Rob for information. Our regular classes will begin in October so watch for news on them soon.

We still have a great large office available to rent in building 10. Tell you friends or join us.

    Friday Research Group News
    From Marshall Bush

The 2PM Friday Research Group is going to resume on September 14, 2007. All members are invited to participate.

We will be studying testing in the case of AR, a recorded analysis. The group will be identifying tests and assessing how well the therapist passed (or failed) them.

The patientıs testing will be related to other outcome measures, such as the degree of pro-plan insight the patient is exhibiting.

Please let me know if you would like to attend so that I can have enough copies of the transcript for the group to work on. Thanks, Marshall Bush at (415) 561- 6775.

Post-Grad Training Program & NEW Training DVD

NEW Control-mastery Training DVD -- Our first ever training DVD -- Psychotherapy Case Formulation from the Perspective of Control-Mastery Theory -- will be available September 1, 2007.

The DVD contains a very brief overview of key concepts (pathogenic beliefs, the patient's plan, tests) followed by an intake interview.

A plan formulation of the case is then presented followed by various examples of patient tests. Each of the test sequence is discussed in terms of the plan formulation of the case.

This DVD, featuring Susan Badger and George Silberschatz, was produced and directed by Zohar Itzhar-Nabarro. Watch for it on the SFPRG web site.
