State Street Continues Their Support
Board Member Kimberly Dall from State Street announced their continuing support for the Vital Link programs with the award of a $12,200 grant to the organization. The grant funds will be used to support the 2009-10 Career Exploration programs. Kimberly's involvement at the Board level and the participation and commitment of the many State Street volunteers each year are integral to the success of the student-based exploration programs.

Vital Link Continues to Grow
 As the Vital Link programs and staff grow, our need for office furniture and a place for everyone to develop and produce our programs becomes more and more important. We reached the tipping point this year - we ran out of workstations and had to make a change in the layout of the office space.
Jeff Gasper of On The Edge Design, stepped up and donated office furniture they no longer needed. This beautiful furniture donation turned an area of the office that was not suitable for work-stations into a 4-person work area. The new furniture came at just the right time and is now being used by our new interns as they work on the development of curriculum for our summer program.
On The Edge Design, an Orange County based graphics design company, truly made a difference in the lives of our staff.

Vital Link at the Discovery Science Center
 Vital Link has been facilitating Robotics training and competitions during the 2008-09 school year. As a capstone event for the year, in partnership with the Discovery Science Center, high school students were able to demonstrate their engineering skills and talents with the robots they build in their clubs and classrooms. Fullerton College Students volunteered at the two-day program, helping with set-up, logistics and directing the fun!
 The event provided the high school students an opportunity to mentor the younger kids in how to operate the robots and show off their engineering designs. Picking up balls and placing them into a variety of different goals and putting a stuffed rabbit into a bucket were just two of the fun activities the elementary and middle school students were able to do with the help of the high school students.
Participating schools included: Anaheim High School, Western High School, Gilbert High School, Cypress High School, Rancho Starbuck Intermediate School, Valley High School (High School Inc.), and Rancho Alamitos High School.
