Surgery Reenactment Connects Students to Medical Careers

Medical 2009The Fifth Annual Medical Careers in Action laparoscopic surgery reenactment seemed real to the 300 students watching doctors, nurses and other medical professionals bring a medical procedure to life.  Not only did the students follow the patient from hospital admittance in the emergency room, they observed the laparoscopic medical procedure and aftercare and learned about the medical careers involved in the process.

Energized and with a sense of focus, the students talked one on one with the professionals after the program and were mentored about moving forward with their interest in a medical career.

The Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, host and major sponsor for the program, is committed to supporting students in their desire to enter the medical profession.  Colleges and ROPs were on hand to provide information about the education path to a rewarding career in Health Care.

Students from Valley Vista, Fountain Valley and Los Amigos High Schools talked to mentors who shared their background and gave them advice on what is like to be professional photographers, medical professionals, graphic designers and marketing experts and many other professions and careers.  Over 50 members of the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce and other business representatives donated their time to organize and participate at the event.  Vital Link is honored to be a part of the planning team and support this important program.
