High School Juniors
Try Their Hand
at Robotic Surgery
UC Irvine School of Medicine, in partnership with Vital Link, is providing an opportunity for 20 juniors from each Orange County high school to tour the UCI Educational Training Center and participate in a hands-on, interactive experience using the latest technology advances in robotic surgery. Students will be given a behind-the-scenes tour to immerse them in an academic medical environment. The students will experience the various training modules that include: laparoscopic trainers, the robotic da Vinci Surgical System, and the latest in surgical simulators. The first of the monthly tours is set for September 25th and will occur monthly thereafter. The tours are fully sponsored by UCI School of Medicine and include lunch. Girls Meet Entrepreneurial Leaders on November 1st
Empowering girls and building entrepreneurial and leadership skills will be the focus of the Realizing a Vision: Building Your Future as an Entrepreneur & Leader Conference on Saturday November 1st at Vanguard University. The conference is an innovative day of inspiration for high school girls to become entrepreneurs and leaders. To enhance the experience, we are providing an opportunity for ten interested girls to serve on an Advisory Team for the conference. As an Advisory Team member, the students will provide input on the breakout sessions, act as ambassadors for the presenters and VIPs on event day, and sit at the presenter tables during lunch. They will meet with Vanguard University's Students for Free Enterprise members who will act as mentors to the team and provide feedback at the wrap-up session for planning future conferences. For more information please contact the Vital Link office at 949-646-2520 or email Bonnie@vitallinkoc.org.
Please pass this information onto the business teachers in your school to share with their interested students.
A girl empowered to Realize a Vision can reach new heights.

Portfolio Curriculum Impacts Students
The popular Personal Portfolio Curriculum and Pocket Portfolio tool are impacting students throughout California. Over the past school year, schools located in Folsom, Cordova, Riverside, Monterey, Los Angeles, Tustin, Sacramento, Apple Valley (and more) are using the curriculum to help their students learn how to document their soft skills in a way that is meaningful and credible to employers. The Portfolio curriculum provides students with training in some of the most important skills employers require for their new employees. If you are interested in acquiring the curriculum for your students or would like to make a donation to provide the curriculum to a school of your choice, please contact Vital Link at 949-646-2520 or Kathy@vitallinkoc.org.
