Welcome back to the April 2008 Group Program Nuggets, a monthly newsletter dedicated to group program and group coaching issues.
 
It's a special month for me here at Potentials Realized as it was four years ago this month that our door, and phone line, opened. In celebration I am offering special pricing on two of our in-person programs which will be held here in Toronto this fall. If you are in the Toronto area, I would also invite you to a speaking engagement I am doing next week for the International Coach Federation (ICF) GTA Chapter. On Wednesday April 16th at 6 pm I will be co-leading a session entitled "Leveraging the Power of Our Relationships" with fellow ORSC coach Jennifer Morgan in the West End of the city. We'd love to have you join us! The session will end at 8:30 pm.

Tips and Tools for Your Workshop or Retreat: Thursday April 17: 6:30 - 8pmET/3:30-5pm PT: $49 US
 
Engaging Exercises for Your Teams and Groups: Wednesday May 14th: 8:30 - 10 pm ET/5:30 - 7pm PT: $65 US (includes the e-manual as well)
 
BizSuccess Virtual Planning Retreat (for Business Owners): Monday April 21 and 28 (7-10pm EST): $150 US
 
Workshop and Retreat Essentials:  May 6, 13, 20 and 27, 2008 (Tuesdays 8-9:15 pm EST)
An intensive two month program for coaches and other professionals who want to develop their own workshops and retreats for clients. The program provides you with a rich toolkit of resources, tools and templates to make your learning come alive. We will cover the ins and outs of group programs, marketing and also exercises. You leave the program with your own workshop/retreat design and intial marketing plan. We will also cover how to design and deliver Virtual Retreats in this program. Cost: $250 US

20 Great Group Program Questions

A couple of weeks ago during the Group Coaching Essentials program I was asked for some quick questions anyone could use during a group program. I came up with the following list and wanted to share it with you:

 

20 Great Group Questions:

 

Starters/Warm up:

  1. What's your hope for today's session? What's your fear? What's your fantasy?
  2. What do you want to take away from today's session?
  3. What is your intention for the day?
  4. What will you commit to bringing to the group?
  5. What role do you want to in the group?
  6. What is your unique gift which you bring to the group?
  7. On a scale of 0-10 how engaged will be with the process?
  8. What risk will you take today?
  9. What is one action you can take today to stretch your comfort zone?

 

Checking in along the way

1. What's been your biggest ah-ha so far?

2. What will turn up the volume on your learning?

3. What is one thing that you can do in the next hour/day/session that will stretch your comfort zones?

4. What has shifted for you since we started?

 

Action Planning: 

1. What's going to make that exciting for you? OR

2.On a scale of 1-10 how exciting is that for you?

3. On a scale of 1-10 how committed are you to it?

4. What action can you take to make this happen?

5. What do you need to commit to?

6. What do you need to say yes to? What do you need to say no to?

 

Next time you are asked to work with a team or a group, or even a speaking engagement, I hope that you'll consider integrating some of these questions!
