Greetings!
Welcome to the August edition of Group Coaching Nuggets. I hope that your summer is going well and has been a wonderful mix of work and rest.

I love August! It is my month to focus on my business -- planning, marketing and overall strategizing -- from the solitude of my cabin. I've been up here now for the better part of three weeks (with short trips to the city as needed) and I'm looking forward to the next four.

In keeping in the spirit of the work I am doing, my Group Coaching Ins and Outs blog, will also take a focus on marketing. Most of my posts this month will be looking at marketing intiatives for your business and group programs. Also, check out the announcement below of the launch of my Virtual Business Brown Bag Lunches -- starting next Friday August 10th at 1pm (EST). I'll be holding these monthly.

As always, I would welcome your comments and updates on what's happening in your life and work. Please sit back and enjoy this month's newsletter!

A Treasure Trove of Ideas for your programs
This month, I wanted to direct you to two of my blog posts from last month -- one on learning styles, the other on dealing with conflict, if and when, it emerges in your programs:

Group Facilitation Tip - Visual Learners

Did you know that almost 60% of adult learners are primarily visual learners? This means that they have an affinity for seeing things in order to learn. How do you enable participants to access the visual side of things in your group programs?

Whether it is a workshop, retreat or group coaching program, here are some suggestions for supporting the visual learners in your programs:
Provide participant's notebooks
Encourage people to write things down
To read the five tips I provide to support visual learners, read the whole blog post here.

Group Facilitation Tip - When Conflict Emerges in Your Group

I've had a number of questions recently from newer facilitators regarding what do you do when conflict emerges within the groups you are working with.

The good news is, that conflict is inevitable within the group context. Just as I wrote several months ago on my post about the Stages of Group Development, part of the process of group formation is conflict during the storming stage. It is during this stage that conflict emerges as the individual group members start to feel out their roles within the group.

Conflict can be as subtle as the withdrawl of a participant (shutting down) or as extreme as verbal conflict emerging between two participants. So what do you do?

To get the answers, read the whole blog post here.
