Greetings!
When David spoke his last words as King of Israel in II Samuel 23, testifying that these words came from God the Holy Spirit, he spoke to us, and to all those who would come after him who would bear rule or authority over people from generation to generation until the LORD Himself appeared again to rule and reign.
Those in authority who bear the responsibility to govern, must be 'just', and 'rule' in the 'fear of God', referring to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the only true God.
In describing those who would so govern, he said they would be to us as "the light of the morning, when the sun riseth," like "a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain." In contrast, Proverbs tells us that "When the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." When they "rise (to power and authority), men hide themselves." The fear of God is not in those who disdain God's goodness and laws, but ignore both His laws and His goodness.
In his Thanksgiving Proclamation, the President of the United States says we are to give thanks to men, but failed to acknowledge the greatest gratitude is giving thanks to our maker and preserver, our sustainer and deliverer, as did the Pilgrims who saw the hand of their creator come to their aid. In avoiding that acknowledgement, he demonstrated he has no fear of God, no enduring vision for America that includes his maker nor his maker's eternal rules of order and right, and as a result, the people 'mourn'.
When that same leader announces his objection to adding President Franklin Roosevelt's D-Day prayer to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., and chides the Republican controlled House of Representatives for reminding him that the national motto is 'In God We Trust', not 'e pluribus unum', as he would like us to believe, it is evident that we do not have a 'ruler' who fears the God of our Fathers. Again, the people ' mourn'. When this President fails to lead, blames others for the nation's ills, and makes his re-election the highest priority, the people continue to 'mourn.' The 'light of the morning, when the sun riseth,' like 'a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain,' must wait another day.
Where does all this end?
"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." Proverbs 29:2 "As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over a poor people. The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor." Proverbs 28:15-16 "A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards." Proverbs 29:11
"He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife."
Proverbs 28:25
"He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered."
Proverbs 28:26 "If a ruler hearkens to lies, all his servants are wicked." Proverbs 29:12 "When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall." Proverbs 29:16 Dear friends, it ends on November 6th, 2012 after we who are called by His Name, have done our duty to encourage our fellow believers to VALUE THEIR VOTE, and VOTE THEIR VALUES--the Values and Principles of the KING OF KINGS--in far greater numbers than at any time in the past.
"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good: and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"
November 7th, 2012 I love those mornings! Sunshine streaming into our windows from the East after a light rain clears the air, and no clouds! They lift the spirit, energize the soul and send us forth in our day with confidence to do what God has placed in our hands and heart. They give us joy in knowing that the mercies of God are new each day and that God is faithful as our Covenant keeping God. May November 7th be one of those days! |
