Greetings!
It has been said there is no greater sin than ingratitude, ungratefulness for the kindness, sacrifice, and gifts of others on our behalf. No father or mother hopes to raise an ungrateful child for there is no blessing in life for the parents, the child, or those with whom the child comes in contact. Every giver of a gift hopes their gift will be appreciated, whether a mother or father who gives a gift to a son or daughter, the young man who gives a ring to the young woman he hopes will receive it with enduring affection and lifelong commitment, or the Father of us all Who gave His only begotten Son that we might have eternal life with Him, the greatest gift of all.
The greatest ingratitude
The greatest ingratitude is our refusal to acknowledge the sacrifice of His Son, and the price that was paid on our behalf, that we might not live for eternity separated from God and in eternal agony.
Families, neighbors, churches, communities and nations are blessed when the people are kind, sacrificial, and grateful for their blessings, including the provision of God for our sin and ongoing provision of our daily needs. Thanksgiving, a national holiday to remember our blessings and give thanks for the Providential provision of God, may be the most important day of each year.
The greatest gratitude
May we too, 'have this mind' which was also in Christ, Who 'did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped', in order to serve Himself, but 'empty' ourselves as He did, taking the form of servants . . . humbling ourselves, becoming 'obedient unto death, even death (as a common criminal) on a cross' to be a blessing to our brethren, our neighbor, and all mankind.
He has, like the young man on bended knee, invited us to be His Bride. He has, like a loving Father, bestowed on us invaluable and incalulable gifts that will endure throughout eternity.
Will you receive Him, and the Gift of the Father, with gratitude, loyalty and fidelity as long as you shall live?
This is true 'ThanksGiving'. Will you make it yours?
