Moral Leadership or, 'Backbenchers'?
The challenge to stand

"America is in difficult times: economic, moral, political, but most of all spiritual. This National Day of Prayer may be a pivotal moment for our nation. Only God can heal our land (2 Chr 7:14). But only America's pastors and churches can provide the spiritual leadership our nation now needs."
Rev. Pierre Bynum - National Prayer Director, Family Research Council |
| Greetings!
Friday was a day of outward pomp, pageantry and ceremony in Great Britain, representing a nation inwardly searching for reassurance in the midst of moral, spiritual, and economic uncertainty. For those who watched around the world - whether they give a whit or not about the British Monarchy - the underlying question was whether the Monarchy and this young couple evidenced the character and commitment needed to fulfill their role as models of leadership, devotion, and fidelity so necessary for those who are held to a higher standard. It was clear, the people hoped this marriage would last and the monarchy would continue. The future of Great Britain hung in the balance in the eyes of the people of Britain on Friday, and the monarchy, as well as this young couple, gave it hope.
Contrasted with the crass, vulgar, and ignoble comments of Donald Trump, a possible candidate for the Presidency of the United States to a mixed group in Las Vegas the evening before, and you have a picture of what is terribly lacking in American leadership. While the Brits are celebrating, hopeful, and encouraged, the good people of America shake their heads in disgust and wonder. . .
"Who will arise in America to serve. . . nobly, and wisely, with an unselfish and courageous, commitment to principle and righteousness, that we can trust?"
Pastors and Churches
Pierre Bynum's assertion that "only America's pastors and churches can provide the spiritual leadership our nation now needs", is apt, and could be likened to the hope that Brits have for the heirs to the throne and the future of Britain. It would be true if our pulpits were "on fire with righteousness" as they were at the time of our Revolution, but they are not.
It is the neglect of our pulpits to teach that our citizenship in heaven carries with it a citizenship responsibility on earth as His Ambassadors that has led to the rapid moral and ethical decline of Ameria and such dismal turnouts at the polls by those who profess to know God and follow Jesus Christ as LORD of their lives.
Too many pastors and denominational leaders, unlike the fiery pulpits of the Revolutionary War, have become 'back benchers', as Charles Krauthammer would say, unwilling to step forward courageously, preach and teach the unvarnished truth revealed by God in His Word, and call their people to their citizenship responsibility.
Many pastors, as they should, will call their congregations to pray on the National Day of Prayer, but will they go beyond that very acceptable practice to actual leadership when it comes to fulfilling our citizenship duties? Will they arise, and lead, as did the pastors of the American revolution, many of whom led the men of their congregations into battle beginning with the first battles of Lexington and Concord?
This Sunday, take note if Your pastor calls you and those with you in the pews to pray this coming Thursday, the National Day of Prayer. If he doesn't, you and your brethren should ask him why? And if he does, thank him. Then ask him if he will call the congregation to their citizenship responsibility to be informed, engaged, Voters in the 2012 elections, as well. Find out if he is a moral leader, or a 'backbencher' and encourage him to step forward on behalf of Christ and His Body. |

In humility, we pray...
Father in heaven, we are all 'backbenchers' as were Gideon and the disciples, and every Saint until they sold out to serve You and You alone; who saw Your great saving love for themselves and the whole world, and were humbled by it, broken, and repentant. Open our hearts once again to truly hear the Word of the LORD, for ourselves, our marriages, our children, our families, the Body of Christ, our neighbors, our nation, and the world. So move in our hearts that we cry out to you to save us from our selfishness, our worldly ideas of success, and the pursuit of our own way. You will have mercy on whom you will have mercy, but not upon a nation unless they repent and turn from their wicked ways. Whatever it takes dear LORD, bring us to our knees once again. In the Name above all names, Who reigns in heaven but not yet in our hearts, Jesus of Nazareth, Amen. |

To our Visitors and New Friends
Restore America has been calling Christians to awaken to their voting responsibility as citizens, for eleven years. Given the increasing threat to the nation from within and without by the ungodly, it is imperative that the millions of Christians who DO NOT VOTE, be mobilized to join their brethren at the ballot box in every election to elect those who will uphold our Judeo Christian heritage and values. Please partner with us to fulfill our 'Salt and Light' responsibility until He comes. Working together, and with His help, we CAN Restore America " Under God"!
