Easter - Setting The Captives Free

When Life begins

April 23, 2011

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it abundantly.

John 10:10 KJV

Greetings!

I arose early that morning with a determined eagerness that I had not known before.  Somehow this day was different.  It was obvious from early light that it was going to be a special Spring Day.  I straddled my old AJS motorcycle and headed up McGowan Creek and rode several miles up the logging road to my favorite fishing spot, a small spring fed pond with a hill looking east to the Cascade Mountains.

As the morning sun crested the Cascades I took out the tattered little Gideon Bible that contained the verses Jack Loy, the Springfield Young Life leader had given me a few days before. I found the verses in that little Bible, reviewed them thoughtfully, and then said a simple prayer inviting Jesus Christ to come into my life, to forgive my sins, and be LORD of my life.

I was 18 years old and wanted my life to have meaning and purpose. It was only later that day that I learned that I had come to have life and life more abundantly, on Easter Sunday.

The years of life

After graduating in Political Science at the University of Oregon, and serving two tours of duty in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam war, I pursued 4 years of biblical and theological study. Observing the silence of the Church after the Roe v. Wade decision on abortion in 1973, I read everything I could find by Francis Schaeffer, C.S. Lewis, Peter Marshall, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.  I searched the Scriptures for guidance about our responsibility as Christians and citizens in a nation progressively and foolishly embracing a secular humanist world view and came to the conviction that we are not to be silent as was the Church in Nazi Germany, and it has become today.

A time for courage

Nothing, nothing, has persuaded me that my decision 50 years ago, on Easter Sunday, to follow Christ as LORD of all life, was foolish, misguided, or anything less than the normal manifiestation of His resurrection from the dead to give life to all who receive Him in simple faith, including mine. I am more persuaded with each passing year that The Son of God, to whom all men will bow, completed His work at Calvary on your behalf and mine, and will return when the Father commands.  In the mean time, Christians are to follow the example of Dietrich Bonhoeffer as we 'occupy til He comes.' (Luke 19:13)

May this Easter Sunday be a day that you Worship Jesus Christ as LORD of all life, including yours.

David Crowe, Director, Restore America

The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

Luke 4:18

To our Visitors and New Friends

Lincoln Memorial - MorningRestore America has been calling Christians to awaken to their voting responsibility as citizens for eleven years.  Given the increasing threat to the well being of the nation from within and without by the ungodly, it is imperative that the millions of Christians who DO NOT VOTE, be mobilized to join their brethren at the ballot box in every election to elect those who will uphold our Judeo Christian heritage and values in public policy. Please partner with us to fulfill our 'Salt and Light' responsibility until He comes.  Working together, and with His help, we CAN Restore America "Under God"!
