The issue before the Democrats in Washington today is not preventing a government shutdown or keeping our military families paid, or even addressing our enormous deficits and debt. It is about ensuring they do whatever it takes to keep their government is god, spread the wealth ideological bedfellows in the democrat party happy and their votes intact for the 2012 election.
The issue before the Republicans in Washington today is markedly different. While they most certainly would like to be re-elected in 2012, they are more concerned about reducing out of control government spending, restoration of responsible governance, putting American's back to work, and addressing themselves to the very clear wishes of the American people as expressed in the November 2010 Election: cut spending, bring the deficits and debt down, reduce redundant government programs.
Consider:
- The republicans controlled House of Representatives, with bi-partisan support, and in case an agreement could not be reached with the White House and Senate to keep the government running, voted yesterday - responsibly - for a one week resolution extension that would ensure our military families would be paid though the end of this fiscal year in September. The Senate democrats refused to vote on the House bill and President Obama promised to veto the bill if it came to his desk. So much for democrat and Presidential concern about military families.
- Instead, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today comes to the microphone lamenting that the Republicans only want to take away medical services for women, without mentioning the fact that it is tax payer money for abortions that the Republicans want to stop! The American people, by overwhelming numbers, do not want their tax dollars (350 million) used for killing the innocents. But Reid, the master of political spin next to Nancy Pelosi, refuses to tell the public the rider he and the President are objecting to refers to Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of abortion in America. What does that say about democrat loyalty to our troops? Aiding and abetting those who consider the child in the womb easy prey for those who make money, your money, off this grisly and immoral practice, is more important than providing for the families of those who are in foreign lands fighting for our rights, especially the right to life of the innocents in the womb. What on God's earth does this say about the values of the democrat party and their leadership from the White House on down?!
- The democrats, under Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama, refused during the entire two previous years under their control, to produce a budget. Instead they put us in debt to the tune of 3.6 trillion dollars more than when they came into office. It would take 800 billion in cuts to take us back to the 2008 level when Obama came into office. So why does Obama and his friends balk at 100, billion, or even 61 billion in cuts? It is because they do not want to lose any ground they gained, in spite of what the Voters said in all of 2010 and in the November elections. It is total hypocrisy for them to say anything else, yet they continue to do it believing they can deceive the public as in the past.
Conclusion:
What the Republicans are asking for is what they should ask for and what they were elected to do. What the Democrats are doing is deceiving the American public into thinking the Republicans are asking for the wrong things when in fact they are not.
Do not be deceived by the well honed deceptive rhetoric and arguments of the democrats and their cohorts in the media. Pray the republicans hold their ground even if the government is shut down due to democrat negligence to give up their pet projects while our military families pay the price.
