| Greetings!
In a few short months, or in some cases, a year or two, the memory of who won the 2011 Super Bowl will have been forgotten . . . but not the memory of the eight years America enjoyed under Ronald Reagan. Sunday's tribute to Reagan on what would have been his 100th birthday, brought perspective to contemporary America with a much different President.
Reagan - who many said was too old to be President - served eight years as the chief executive officer of the largest state in the Union before he was elected President. Growing up in the midwest, Reagan saw both city and country life and acquired the values that are the backbone of America. A lifeguard, a radio announcer, then an actor; a liberal, and then a bed rock conservative through his own study and observation, he recorded late night radio talks to Americans from 1975 to 1979 before being elected to the Presidency. In office, his values, core principles and the leadership that came from those all American values were evident and inspiring. His courageous confrontation with dictators and communism led to the demise of the Soviet Union and greater respect for America throughout the world. His engaging and gregarious personality along with his determination to extend tried and true values into public and foreign policy led to an immediate confrontation with unions, and liberal elites. He lowered taxes, rebuilt our military, confronted the Soviet Union and tin horn dictators, and started the largest growth period in American history.
Barack Obama on the other hand, had no similar experience. He was born into an unstable home, confused parental values, no father, and received training in both Islam and later, radical liberation theology under Reverend Jeremiah Wright. He took a trip around the world in search of himself, was educated in a liberal university and law school, both of which have no regard for the U.S. Constitution. He lacked any executive experience whatsoever when he ran for the Presidency. Unlike Reagan, he was virtually a political unknown outside of Washington D.C. with a record as the most liberal Senator in the United States Senate.
President Reagan inherited economic stagnation, high inflation, interest rates at 17%, and unemployment over 10%. He immediately lowered taxes, interest rates, and unemployment; rebuilt our military, restored confidence in the American people, and whose leadership led to the greatest long term growth in the private sector, and opposed the growth of government.
President Obama on the other hand inherited many of the same problems, but refuses to lower taxes on all Americans, refuses to listen to the American people, refuses to cut spending and seeks greater control of the economy and our lives with a reckless regard for the Constitution and has no problem overseeing the greatest growth of federal government agencies, in our history, all while mouthing better days ahead. He has weakened our relationship with our allies and strengthened those who hate America.
Unlike Ronald Reagan who said to Mikhail Gorbachev, "Tear down this wall!", Barack Obama was silent when the Iranian people rose up against the tyranny of their leadership. While Reagan rebuilt confidence and respect for America amongst both Americans and world leaders, Obama can find little good about America, slighting Christians and Christianity while defending Islam and catering to it's leaders.
At a time when Americans needed strength and renewed vision, Ronald Reagan brought that to the White House, and to all Americans, with wisdom, humor, and pragmatism. In stark contrast, our inexperienced President seems befuddled in how to deal with both our allies and those who would destroy us, let alone the American people. This President is a classic example of a confused generation schooled not by the godly who know and understand both our history and the wisdom of the Scriptures, but by caananites who understand neither our history, or the eternal truths upon which our nation was built.
What made the difference between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama? I believe the answer lies in their upbringing, education, experience, and the superiority of America's fundamental values, the same values that our Founders held and embedded in our founding documents. When those values and principles are incorporated into our lives by our fathers and mothers at home, in our churches, our schools, in public policy, and in our personal lives, God blesses us as individuals, communities, states, and as a nation. When we fail to do so, we bring upon ourselves and our offspring, the very outpourings of hell itself. Unfortunately those values and principles have been thrown to the wayside in the generations between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama, to our great loss. |
