The Propensity to Licentiousness
Believing the unbelievable - A Commentary on our times
December 19, 2010
|
"The known propensity of a democracy is to licentiousness which the ambitious call, and ignorant believe to be liberty."
Fisher Ames (speech in the Massachusetts Ratifying Convention, 15 January 1788) |

Greetings!
Saturday was just another day for the already discredited United States Senate, amongst whom were several who were rejected by the voters. Like the morning in which the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, the American people - like those serving in the military - had no idea that an attack had already been planned, launched, and executed against our Pacific Fleet. It had just not gotten there...yet.
On this third day of infamy in our history, over the objections of the Chiefs of the Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, and Navy, Vietnam Veteran and POW, Senator John McCain, and thousands with current and past military service, liberal U.S. Senators, including several Republicans, decided to launch their own attack on our young men and women serving in the military, many of whom would not have volunteered had they known how self serving their own elected officials would be, at their expense.
By a vote of 65 to 31, the Senate paid off a politically correct campaign promise to a small but powerful special interest lobby (2%), at the expense of our morally straight young men and women in the military, with a social engineering experiment that will impose serious challenges in the implementation, especially when they are engaged in two wars that require their full attention.
As at Pearl Harbor, the victims were not the American people, but our unsuspecting young men and women serving around the world. The effect on the people will come later.
The"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy about 'gays' in the military has worked well since it's inception, but was repealed Saturday, by a Senate with a 13% approval rating amongst the people, making open homosexual and lesbian behavior legal in our armed services for the first time in our history. No matter that people in our military warned that changing this policy could seriously affect military cohesiveness and combat readiness as well as recruiting, these weak and misguided senators succumbed to the politically correct argument that this was a civil rights issue, nothing more, nothing less, as their justification, in spite of all the proof to the contrary.
Fisher Ames was correct. The 'ambitious' and the 'ignorant' amongst us believe licentiousness to be 'liberty.' It is not. It is bondage, and leads to the dissolution of our moral and relational foundations, upon which our nation relies.
The decision by this Senate to legitimize and foist upon a specific group of people, mostly young, a behavior that God calls an abomination, is indicative of why the current Congress and Senate is held in such contempt by the people. This decision should be nullified by the incoming Congress with an outcry of the people; however, since the people, in ever growing ignorance, and increasing numbers, have bought the lie as well, it most likely will not.
Yesterday was a day of 'infamy.' We just don't recognize it. . . yet.

"The laws of nature are the laws of God, whose authority can be superseded by no power on earth. A legislature must not obstruct our obedience to Him from whose punishment they cannot protect us. All human laws which contradict His laws we are in conscience bound to disobey."

Father in heaven, whose reign and rule extend throughout the universe, turn not away your eyes from the foolishness of darkened minds that inhabit this small pebble and believe they can rule in Your place without Your consent - minds determined to do as they please in defiance of Your clear will for our own good. Forgive them for they know not what they do, and what it means for we who revere Your Name and seek Your righteousness on the earth. Have mercy on our young. Do not allow them to be confused, and like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, may they stand firm in their opposition to this abominable decision, and trust in You and Your righteousness. In Christ's Name, and in Whom we live and breathe and have our being, Amen.

To our Visitors and New Friends
Restore America has been calling Christians to awaken to their citizenship duty and voting responsibility for eleven years. Given the increasing threat to the well being of the nation from within, and without, by the ungodly, and the salt and light ambassadors we are called to be by our Saviour, our message grows more important each day. Please remember us in your end-of-year giving.
