Renewing A Right Spirit In America

Restoration - Voting just one step of many

October 31, 2010

"Renew a right spirit within me."

Psalm 51:10

Greetings!

Much is being made about this election and far be it from me to say that it is not important.  It is exceedingly important; however, it is only one step - a necessary step - toward renewal and restoration of the nation.

No political party can or will restore America, nor will any group of elected officials unless, as King David, they have recognized their own sin, their need for forgiveness, a "clean heart" and for God to renew in them a 'right spirit' KJV), a 'steadfast spirit' (NKJV) that will not compromise with the spirit of this world.

Government at all levels, from the home, to the church, to civil government, is ordained by God and intended by God to set in place those principles and practices that honor and glorify Him, and bring blessing to the people. When we, and our elected officials recognize this truth, and act accordingly, God will hear our prayers, restore, and bless America.

While it is important that we the people should ensure by our Votes that good men, wise men, God fearing men and women, with a "right spirit" are elected to office to direct the nation back to it's moorings and foundational principles, it will not happen unless we ourselves recognize our own sin and cry out to God, as did David, that a 'clean heart' and 'steadfast spirit' be created in us.

True change begins in your heart and mine, a necessary ingredient for the restoration of the nation.

Psalm 100:5 says, "And His truth endures to all generations."

God of heaven and earth, maker of all things Who knoweth our rising and sitting, our words and thoughts before we speak them, create in me a clean heart and renew a steadfast and right spirit within me. And in your work, find in me a broken and contrite spirit that wills only to do Thy will, that yields in every issue, every word, to Thy Lordship, that Thou may be glorified, and Your Son justified in the shedding of His blood for me and for all mankind.  Have mercy on America dearest LORD. Renew and restore our hearts to Your glory, and leave us not in our arrogance, our lofty pride, our lostness. Renew us that we may let your light shine through us to a dying and desperate world.  In the only Name under heaven by which we must be saved. Amen.

"Without God we can't, but without us, He won't. "

Lincoln Memorial - MorningRestore America has been calling Christians to awaken to their citizenship duty and voting responsibility for eleven years.  Given the increasing threat to the nation by the ungodly and the salt and light ambassadors we are called to be by our Saviour, our message is more important than ever.   "If the people fail to vote, a government will be developed which is not their government...  The whole system of American Government rests on the ballot boxUnless citizens perform their duties there, such a system of government is doomed to failure."

Calvin Coolidge, Thirtieth President of the United States
A share in the sovereignty of the state, which is exercised by the citizens at large, in voting at elections is one of the most important rights of the subject, and in a republic ought to stand foremost in the estimation of the law.
