Dear (Contact First Name),
By Tuesday evening, November 2nd, millions of Americans will have exercised their 'high prerogative' to 'invest with office and authority' men and women who will either 'save or destroy' our country.
Justice Joseph Story, who served on the U.S. Supreme Court from 1811-1845 wrote in A Familiar Exposition Of the Constitution of the United States:
"If this work (the Constitution) shall but inspire the rising generation with a more ardent love of their country, an unquenchable thirst for liberty, and a profound reverence for the Constitution and the Union, then it will have accomplished all that its author ought to desire. Let the American youth never forget that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capable, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the blessings of life, and of peaceful enjoyment of liberty, of property,of religion, and of independence. The structure has been erected by architects of consummate skill and fidelity; its foundations are solid; its compartments are beautiful as well as useful; its arrangements are full of wisdom and order; its defences are impregnable from without. It has been reared for immortality, if the work of man may justly aspire to such a title. It may, nevertheless, perish in an hour, by folly, or corruption, or by negligence of its only keepers,THE PEOPLE. Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them."
As pastor Mathias Burnett said, we would be wise to 'consider well the important trust which God. . . has put into our hands.'
With only a few days left before the election, the people who take their citizenship seriously know that the 'change' Barack Obama and his followers in the Congress promised, is contrary in every respect to the vision and wisdom of the Founders, and will destroy the nation if allowed to be implemented. May we not be negligent in our duty to VOTE.
