Caesar Is King!

By What Authority?

March 19, 2009
Greetings!

By what authority does a woman have a 'right' to take the life of the unborn child
in her womb? By what authority do men - in any capacity - whether a President, elected Senators, Representatives, appointed Supreme Court Justices, or unelected officials - have a 'right' to redefine marriage, morality, the family, or reason away what our Forefathers recognized were the "eternal rules of order and right?"

By what authority do our elected officials bail out bank and industry executives as well as themselves, when those actions jeopardize the life savings, hopes, dreams, and incentive of millions of Americans - actions that threaten to bankrupt the nation, the people, and thrust our children into a hopeless cycle of poverty?  By what authority?!
The Issue of Authority

The issue of authority has been an issue since the Garden of Eden in all cultures and in all governments.  It is a subject of immense significance in contemporary American culture, particularly when elected leaders in civil government ignore millenia old principles that govern morality and economics.

To those on the secular left who are determined to remove all trace of morality, ethics, and principle from our institutions, including public schools, the courts, and our legislative and executive bodies, authority has become a political play thing to be manipulated for their own ends.  To them, ultimate authority belongs to men who occupy positions of power, men who disdain the laws of God, pridefully think they can ignore Him, and bilk the American people of billions to fill their own personal coffers.
Authority comes from God

When Jesus of Nazareth would not answer Pontius Pilate, Pilate said to Him, "Do you not know that I have authority to release you, and I have authority to crucify you?" To which, Jesus said to Pilate, "You would have no authority over Me unless it had been given you from above." (John 19:11- 15)

Jesus was reminding Pilate that his authority was not inherently his, but conferred
upon him by God, for God's purposes, not those of men. Inherent in Jesus'
declaration is that absolute authority belongs to God, and therefore every decision by civil authority must be weighed in accordance with His purposes. Upon hearing what Jesus said, Pilate tried to release Him, but the people said, "We have no king but Caesar," a statement repeated in the last election by the people who chose to ignore truth and embraced a false messiah.

The foolishness of men, including elected and unelected officials, tyrants, and bureaucrats, has its consequences . . . on all of us, the good and the evil, the wheat and the tares.  God is the judge of our decisions, and what we sow, we will reap.  We sow to the wind, we reap the whirlwind. And so it will be with the decisions we-the-people made to install a cabal of unenlightened, God ignoring, God disdaining men who - by their pride and arrogance - will bankrupt the nation, morally, spiritually, and economically.
The Testimony of History

And therein lies the fundamental problem in America - the refusal of the unbelieving secular left to recognize any authority over them, including we-the-people.

Our leaders, like the religious leaders of the Jews at the time of Christ, have no need for this Jesus. He is a threat to their belief that men in positions of power are the final and ultimate authority. Their king is whoever they say he is at any given time.  To the liberal media, the intellectual elites, the self absorbed, those who devalue life, and the morally licentious, it is Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, liberal activist judges, and a democrat majority in Congress. To the greedy and unethical, it is the almighty dollar.

As One wise in eternal things said, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.  Ye cannot serve God and mammon." (Matthew 6:24)

Our public officials, elected and non-elected - as well as our business leaders - would do well to heed the testimony of history. 600 years before Christ, Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, learned at great personal loss, "That the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, and bestows it on whomever He wishes." And that... "it is heaven that rules." (Daniel 4:25-26)

And He still does.

"Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens.  They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them."

Justice Joseph Story, U.S. Supreme Ct. 1811-1845

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

II Corinthians 10:3-5 KJV
"Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses."
