Not Voting...IS Voting!

Dear Christian Friend, "I'm just not going to VOTE" is the current popular buzz amongst Christians about the upcoming General Election. Why? Because, they say, they are disgusted with the continued negative advertising, crass finger pointing, obfuscation and usual election politics. Wrongly concluding they are unable to determine who is really telling the truth, who really wishes to be an honest-to-God public servant, and which candidates possess the integrity to earn their VOTE, many Christians will choose not to VOTE in this important election. But Their NON-Vote, WILL Count!
Those who choose not to VOTE, aid and abet
those who DO VOTE ... for the wrong
candidates. By the absence of their VOTES they
also thwart the passage of important ballot measures
with moral implications, such as Measure 43,
Parental Notification.
When the turnout of Christians drops by only a few percentage points, every race, every election at the local, county, state and federal level, is affected. Consequently, those who have a different world view, and very different values, take advantage of our ignorance and our own 'political correctness' so they can elect candidates who will support their issues, not ours.
Lets Not Fall For This Again!
Christian Voter Guides come out this week.
Take the time to look past the TV, radio, mailbox
and door hanger propaganda. Pick up a Christian
Voter Guide at an evangelical church, because that
is where you will find them. And if you do not find
them there, ask your pastor if he will ensure they are
there as a service to the congregation in time for
the congregation to study the content of the Guide,
and turn in an informed ballot.
One church staff or member can make a few phone calls and the Guides will be delivered. Ask your pastor to urge his congregation the last three weeks before the election to pick up the Voter Guide in the foyer or at the information booth, study carefully, and VOTE! Lets reverse one of the major reasons traditional value candidates and incumbents lose, Christians who conclude that our VOTES are not that important. They are!
Faith ACTS! Don't 'Hang Out To Dry' those who Deserve our Support!
Lets change the paradigm. Voting is not
about 'politics.' It is about wise and responsible
citizenship.
Scripture teaches that real faith is about action, not just words. Lets do the hard thing and take ACTION! Determine to get your hands on a Christian Voter Guide. Read it thoughtfully, comparing candidates and reviewing the issues on the ballot. We have a little over two weeks from the time the ballot hits your mailbox to the time it needs to be turned in. Don't let your ballot go out in the trash.
