Withholding Our Influence

Beloved of God, Dr. James Dobson, Founder of Focus on the Family, said, "I think it is a disgrace that half the Christians in America aren't even registered to vote, and of those who are, only half go to the polls." We Have The VOTES!
With over 52 million voter eligible Evangelical
Christians in America, we are the largest voting block
in the nation, and potentially the most
influential, but we're NOT USING OUR
VOTES! Take Oregon for example:
With a population of just over 3.6 million, 2.5 million are eligible to VOTE. Of that number, just under 2.0 million are registered to VOTE, and with only a 50% turnout expected in the November General Election, less than 1.0 million Oregonians will actually VOTE! In a two way race for governor, other statewide race, or ballot measure, approximately 450,000 VOTES are needed to win. In a 3 way race, even less than that. That is only 18% of all eligible voters and virtually equal to the number of voter age, Evangelical Christians in the state! With that knowledge, Christians could clearly be the determining factor in choosing the next governor, conservative pro life, pro family legislators, and passing Measure 43, parental notification. But ONLY if our pastors call their congregations to register by October 17th, and then urge them to fill out and send in the ballots they will have in hand for two weeks!
Pastoral Leadership Is Needed
Pastor, will you hold three Voter Registration
Drives
in your church Sunday, October 1st, 8th and
15th?
If you are a board member of your church, please urge your pastor to ensure voter registration cards are placed in the bulletin or passed out to the congregation. Ask him to call his congregation to register before the October 17th deadline.
Dr. Dobson went on to say, "When we withhold our influence and participation, we yield by default to those who promote immoral and destructive policies." Lets not aid and abet the forces of darkness in America. Instead, lets restore much needed light and wisdom into civil government by exercizing our minimal citizenship responsibility. "Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a disgrace to any people." Proverbs 14:34
