AIA New York and Urban Green Council Offering Energy Code Programs in Rochester and Albany

The 2010 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (ECCCNYS-2010) is now mandatory throughout New York State and promises to have a major impact on energy use! The code regulates the design and construction of buildings for the effective use of energy while providing flexibility to allow innovative approaches and techniques. It includes additional mandatory provisions and requires buildings to be substantially more energy efficient than the 2007 edition. Urban Green Council and AIA New York have developed a four-hour course to familiarize architects and engineers with the ECCCNYS-2010, the fundamentals of low energy design, and the processes available to demonstrate compliance. This program is funded by NYSERDA, through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
The course will address commercial buildings, including residential buildings over three stories.
ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 2007, an alternative compliance pathway for meeting the requirements of ECCCNYS - 2010, will be referenced, but not covered in detail. Training sessions are being presented at various venues throughout New York State through July 2012.

The program is being offered on April 11, 2012 in Rochester from 8AM to 12PM with outreach partner AIA Rochester.

The program will also be offered April 26, 2012 in Albany from 1PM to 5PM with

outreach partner AIA Eastern New York

The instructor at all of these programs is Peter Arsenault, FAIA, LEED AP

The course fee is $85 which includes a course manual and continuing education credits are available (4 GBCI and 4 AIA HSW/SD).  Register at a location near you on NYSERDA's website at https://nyserdacodetraining.com/semlibrary.php.

If you don't see the courses listed, click Cracking the Code, on the right hand side of the page under In Person Training, then click Class Library at the top left of the page for a complete list of dates.
