Confirmation Class of 2012 Confirmation Class of 2012
Back row: Timothy Q. Boles, Michael E. Prang, Rev. Ron Purser. Front row:
Neil R. Milfred, William H. Lesswing, Mary Alice Roach, Mary Melissa MacCarthy. and William D. MacCarthy

Sunday, May 20 was a special day for seven of our young people as they took an important step in their spiritual life through their confirmation. As the final step in their spiritual journey each

confirmand is asked to write their own personal Creed of Faith.

Timothy Quinn Boles

I believe in God.

I believe that He tests us with temptations and rewards us for our good deeds.

I believe that the world is united through the things in which we believe.

I believe that Christianity has helped the world through many hard times.

I believe faith connects humans with God.

William Hunter Lesswing

I believe in one God, that created Earth and Heaven.

I believe in one Messiah, Jesus Christ, the only son of God.

I believe in the good of serving others.

I believe in bringing myself and the others around me

closer to God.

I believe that Christ resurrected after three days

of his crucifixion.

I believe God is there to protect me and the people around me.

Mary Melissa MacCarthy

I believe in God, the father, Almighty.

I believe in His son, Jesus Christ, who was wrongly crucified,

and who shed His blood for us on the cross to relieve us of our sins.

I believe that He then rose to heaven to show us the way.

and to grant us eternal, everlasting life in God's kingdom.

I believe in heaven, where all souls find their way.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, and that it guides us in our faith

as we try to follow God's vision of life through love, charity and

understanding.

I believe that God, from a perch in heaven, watches over us all,

along with all the people we have ever loved and lost.

I believe in prayer and that it is a way to reach God,

and I believe that He reaches back to us through love and faith and through life's little everyday miracles.

I believe that through faith, we are rid of our sins,

and are given salvation and a pathway to heaven.

I believe that there is a force in our lives that is bigger than us all,

and that binds us together in love and in determination of living

our life the Christian way.

William Daniel MacCarthy

I believe in God as the maker of all things.

I believe in His only son, Jesus Christ, who sacrificed himself for us - died and then came back - showing us that life never ends. I believe we live forever in the hearts and memories of those we left behind.

I believe prayer is my way of talking to God - OMG

I believe you make your own choices, but God is there to help you with your decisions. Good or bad.

I believe God will forgive us - if we really ask to be forgiven.

I believe that through all the tough times, God is there to help you become a stronger, more mature and better person.

Neil Ryan Milfred

I believe in the Trinity of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I have undoubted faith in the Trinity and will be committed to the United Church of Christ. I will regularly attend services and will be an active member of the Little Home Church.

Michael Erling Prang

I believe in one God Creator of Earth and Heaven.

God gives us life and things to live for.

I believe He is always there even though He can't be proven.

I believe that prayer is a way to talk to God and it is helpful when you are sad or mad.

I believe Jesus is the son of God.

I believe Jesus was a good teacher and he wanted us to care for each other and love each other. I believe we should love each other like Jesus loved us.

I believe Jesus was crucified for our sins and that he put us before Himself.

Jesus rose from the dead and is in Heaven.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is Jesus' spirit.

I believe that the Holy Spirit brings us to Heaven.

I believe in forgiveness, and that people should care for and help each other.

I believe that we should not push each other to do what's wrong and we should speak out about what is right and stand up for one another.

I believe that we should treat others as we would want to be treated.

I believe that equality is important. Your gender, race or religion doesn't matter for equality.

I believe in a positive attitude.

I believe it is important to be honest and trustworthy so that friends and family members can rely on me.

Mary Alice Roach

I believe in God and his power.

I believe that God sent Jesus as a teacher.

He taught us to be like Him by not judging, accepting others, and being helpful with others' problems.

I believe that during the time Christ was on earth He suffered, was crucified, died and was buried.

I believe the Holy Spirit is a sense that God trusts us to do the right thing and to know what the right thing is through Christ's teaching.

I believe that every human being has a vital gift to share with the world. That gift should be encouraged. I think peace is the greatest thing the world could achieve.

It would be the kingdom of God.

Please congratulate these newest Little Home Church members and may we, as a congregation, welcome them into our church family with love and support.

Pastor's message...
 Rev Ron Purser

Wow! Summer is upon us once again! Now is the time to relax a little, live a little, love a little and maybe see life more with new eyes of faith.

Every human being experiences many wonderful miracles every day. Unfortunately, most of us do not recognize them. But just what is a miracle? A miracle is something extraordinary that happens which is not easily explained. It is a stroke of God's divine genius which adds specialness to ordinary life.

Often as I look at books of photographs I am amazed that most of the truly renowned pictures are of commonplace things. I feel that I could have taken a picture and become famous too! Perhaps I could have taken the magnificent picture, but first I would have had to notice how great it was. This is the problem. The renowned pictures, God's miracles, are there every day of our lives, but our eyes are not open to see them. Why don't we see these miracles that are happening all the time in the most common places? Remember the last time you went on vacation? Coming home, the same old house looks different when you first walk in the door. Why? Because a blanket of daily anxieties, fears, depressions, problems, and difficulties were temporarily lifted while you were away.

During his annual physical, a man was shocked to learn that he had a disease which could claim his life in less than a year. A month later, the doctor realized he had made a mistake in his diagnosis. He was told he would live. Although the doctor's error caused many negative feelings during the month after the initial diagnosis, it also had its positive side. On later reflection, "I began to see the beauty of God's creation in a way I hadn't seen it before. With the length of my life now limited, I began to make the most out of every moment." He continues to discover God's miracles every day.

What blinds us to the beauty of a budding tree, the ever-changing formations of interesting clouds, or a spring rain making small circles in a mud puddle, is the toil of daily living. God is performing miracles every day, but we are so caught up in ourselves and our problems that we can no longer see the beautiful robin perched in the tree.

Try this...waking up each morning, to really open our eyes to God's miraculous world. If we do, we will discover the miracle that awaits us every day. Look a little harder, we may even find two.

Have a wonderful Summer. May God bless.

Smiling faces!
Congratulations
to Little Home Church on a very successful fundraising event! The 2012 Plant Sale was held Mother's Day weekend on Friday and Saturday, May 11 & 12, and raised more than $2,500. Thank you to everyone who dug plants, bought plants, baked treats, donated flea market items, provided the tent and portable window room, staffed the sale, provided lunch, and worked the set-up & clean-up...quite fantastic!

This challenging book will convict the heart of readers to live in the light of eternity.Safely Home Book Cover

Gardening Angels & Handy Devils made Monday, May 21 a productive Work Day!

The Parish Hall and Sanctuary were treated to a deep dusting high and low, and the many spent bulbs were replaced in the ceiling light fixtures. We were assisted by a professional cleaning team of three, who discover the still remaining pine needles under pew cushions and atop the woodwork.

All are invited whether you have read the chapters to be discussed or not.

1.]  If you have a Facebook account you can "Like" the page and then updates will be posted on your FB news feed. The LHC Page now has 20 "Likes"...we want more!

2.]  Don't worry...if you do not have a Facebook account you can still view the page with the link above. Or "Google" Little Home Church by the Wayside to see the Facebook link (not the one with the word "The" capitalized, in "by The Wayside").

3.]  If you would like to post images or notices to the page, please email them to Lori Prang at lhchomeLori@aol.com or Kathleen Sullivan Kaska at ksk@kaskadesign.com

4.]  This can be a wonderful (and free) way to share the LHC community with the public, and connect with each other too!

Outreach Ministry feeding.logo
Dear Food Pantry Friends:
Feeding Northwest DuPage received an exciting phone call earlier this week about an opportunity to partner with the Jewel in St. Charles (Kirk and Rt. 64) to pick up their dairy, produce, meats and bakery that they are pulling off the shelf at its "sell by" date. This would mean that we need to pick up every Monday, Thursday and Saturday in the early morning. This is perfect for us, since our pantry is open those days.

We are in need of drivers and helpers for those mornings. We are to show up at the Jewel dock and the Receiving Manager will direct us. The dairy items will be in the fridge, the meat will already be frozen and the produce and bakery will be at room temp. We have the possibility of receiving up to 30 cases of product, depending on the day of the week. The food needs to be loaded into a truck/van/pick-up and brought to Resurrection Church. It shouldn't take more than an hour or so for the whole pick-up/drop off.

If you have time before work one day a week or are available on Saturday mornings, please let me know. If you have a van or pick-up and can drive but need someone to do the hauling, we can arrange that, too! So, the bottom line is, here's what we need:
2 people w/large vehicles for Monday pick-ups at 8 am, beginning June 4
2 people w/large vehicles for Thursday pick-up at 7 am, beginning May 31
2 people w/large vehicles for Saturday pick-up at 7 am, beginning June 2

If you have the time and are willing to help, please contact either Suzanne Setlock 630-372-6301 or Kathy McKinley 630-483-9027.

Thank you, Suzanne
