Cheers! Albany water scores high in taste test
Albany's drinking water placed second of 13 entries from throughout western Oregon in the annual Best-tasting Water contest, sponsored by the Cascade to Coast subsection of the American Water Works Association. The City of Bend took first place and the City of Cottage Grove's water was third. Results were announced in February in Eugene.
According to John Adams, Cascade to Coast subsection president, "The plaque showing second place is an award for bragging rights among the communities participating but it is also a confirmation of the quality of the water we produce every day. Congratulations to everyone!"

 Willamette Community Garden ready to grow Willamette Community Garden, on Main Street near First Avenue, starts its third growing season this spring. The garden began in 2010 as a joint effort between members of the Salem / Harrison Neighborhood Watch group and the City of Albany, with initial funding from the Central Albany Revitalization Area.

 Keeping our water & sanitary sewer system running smoothly
The introduction of various "flushable" products into the wastewater collection system has changed the characteristics of sewage. While products such as moist towellettes, facial tissues, feminine hygiene products, dental floss and cotton swabs will flush down the toilet, they can hang up in your pipes, the City's sewer system, or further downstream.
