Amy Shumaker is one of four new RTCA board members this year. She serves as the Regional Directors Representative.

She has been actively involved with RTCA since 1994 and sat on the Arizona Council until 1999 when her husband, Chaplain John Shumaker, was called into the ministry and they moved to Texas. They served there for eight years until they were called back to Arizona in 2007. Amy has served as secretary of the Arizona RTCA Council for the past two years.

John and Amy have three children, Travis, 23, Casey Jo, 15, and Jacob,10.

Her two favorite scriptures are:

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 33:3

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

Making a Difference

This column features quotes from people who make a difference by supporting RTCA. Their gifts of either cash, appreciated securities, stocks and bonds, real estate, personal property, life insurance, trusts and/or wills
equips and empowers Chaplains to minister at racetracks across the U.S.

Duncan Taylor"The Race Track Chaplaincy (through the work of their chaplains) provide the hands, feet, eyes and ears to show God's mercy and love by serving the people who care for the horses. These people, like all of us, need a helping hand when life gets tough, and the chaplains are there to serve them and their families. We appreciate them serving the people spiritually and physically in their time of need."

A Word from RTCA Executive Director Chaplain Craig Wiley

On 4 July 1776, a "Declaration of Independence" was adopted by the Second Continental Congress and declared that the 13
American Colonies were no longer a part of Great Britain.

Did you know that 2012 marks the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812? In another fierce battle with Great Britain, America expended valuable national resources and suffered many losses including the capture and burning of our Nation's Capital.

"Not everyone is interested in why I'm here, and some people would be just as happy if I weren't here, because my presence

and voice carries with it the conviction of the Gospel."
