Celebrating 40 Years of Service
| RTCA turns 40 in 2012. We're proud of our councils and chaplains who have fulfilled the mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ through teaching, preaching, and ministering to the spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and educational needs of those persons involved in all aspects of the horse racing industry.
Over the course of the year, we'd like to feature memories and photos depicting what RTCA has meant to you and the impact RTCA has had on the lives of others.
Please take a few minutes and jot down a memory and/or scan a photo, then email them to us at info@rtcanational.org. Or mail them to us at our national headquarters. We'll feature these memories in upcoming e-newsletters.
Thank your for your continued involvement and interest in RTCA.

 | Chaplain John and Amy Shumaker look forward to seeing you at the Chaplaincy School |
Chaplains and their spouses are invited to a time of renewal during the Chaplaincy School March 14 - 16 in Phoenix, Arizona at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel. The theme of the school this year is "Spiritual Integrity." The school planning committee has been working on this special event and knows it will be a refreshing and informative time for you. We have partnered with The Winners Federation for the program on Wednesday and are excited to have Reverend Ben Fike lead us in training on Thursday and Friday.

Chaplain Craig Wiley Named New RTCA Executive Director

Chaplain Craig Wiley named new RTCA executive director
|
After a lengthy search process, we're proud to announce that Chaplain Craig Wiley has accepted our offer to become the next executive director of RTCA and will start in mid-April. Chaplain Wiley and his wife Jean currently reside in Atlanta, GA and will be relocating to Lexington, KY.
An Executive Director Search Committee, consisting entirely of RTCA Chaplains and a member of the Human Resource Committee, embarked on a mission to find the God-appointed candidate for executive director. After reviewing numerous resumes and conducting countless interviews, they recommended three candidates for consideration to the Board of Directors.
The selected candidates were interviewed, prioritized and an offer was made. We're confident that Chaplain Wiley will provide the leadership to continue the mission of RTCA.

2011 Year in Review
by RTCA Board of Directors President Gary Cartwright
2011 will be remembered as one of transition for RTCA and refocus on why RTCA exists...to support the ministry of our Chaplains at the racetracks they serve. Dr. Enrique Torres, executive director, resigned and Dr. Paul Ransdell accepted the position of interim executive director and has done an exceptional job serving in that critical role. We're excited about Chaplain Craig Wiley joining us in mid-April as our new Executive Director. (See story above). At the annual business meeting in April, a new Executive Committee was elected, which included two RTCA Chaplains. Dan Fick, who has been instrumental in RTCA, concluded his term as president and was acknowledged for his accomplishments. With a new Executive Committee of officers, returning experienced board members and an interim executive director, we proceeded to write the next chapter in this wonderful ministry to be obedient to God's Will.
We have been blessed to have the talented Senior Chaplain Esten Leonard assist the national office. With Esten's assistance in 2011 and the leadership of Paul, we have more than doubled the number of Affiliated Councils since April with others considering signing the affiliation agreement.
The focus of the national office has been on assisting Chaplains and improving the efficiency of the "National Service Center" as Paul has labeled it.
Additional highlights of 2011 include a successful White Horse Award Banquet with a very deserving award recipient, Jeremy Best, and a 2012 Chaplaincy School Planning Committee composed entirely of Chaplains. The Chaplaincy School will mark the 40th year of RTCA, and will be held in Phoenix, March 14-16.
As your president, it is my privilege to serve and my total focus is assisting Councils and Chaplains in doing God's work. We look forward to furthering HIS ministry in 2012.
Many Blessings,
Gary
