Remington Park Chaplaincy Regional Meeting

 

The RTCA Council at Remington Park is hosting a regional meeting on October 17th in Oklahoma City.

 

All Councils and Chaplains are invited to attend. An agenda will be coming soon. There will be a dinner that evening, featuring motivational/ empowerment speaker Coach D Robinson from Lexington, Ky.

 

A special room rate has been secured at two local hotels, and all travel expenses will be your responsibility.

 

For those that want to come in on Sunday, Remington Park is hosting the annual Derby Day, and will have seats available. And on Tuesday, Remington Park is hosting its 5th Annual Golf Outing, open to all who want to participate.

Executive Director Search
The Executive Director Search Committee, chaired by Ch. Esten Leonard, is in the process of receiving resumes and evaluating candidates.  Several high-quality resumes have been received and the deadline to apply is September 30.  The committee is hopeful of having a recommendation to RTCA's Board of Directors in October.

Senior Chaplain assisting the National Service Center

 

Ch. Esten LeonardSince August, Ch. Esten Leonard has been assisting the National Service Center on council and chaplain ministry-related functions, including:  

  • assisting Councils with various needs including EIN's, 501(c)3's, and Affiliation Agreements
  • managing the Chaplain Candidate Screening process
  • managing the RTCA Policy Manual and Council Operations Manual projects
  • updating Chaplain and Council records
  • promoting Council benefits and services 

 

Ch. Esten holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Sciences & Arts of Oklahoma.  He has served in racetrack and farm ministries since 1986, including his current assignment with Remington Park Chaplaincy in Oklahoma since 2004.  Among his accomplishments is helping establish the racetrack ministry at Canterbury Park in Minnesota. 

 

Ch. Esten will continue dividing his time between the national office and Oklahoma Council through October.  His positive impact is already being felt throughout the entire ministry, especially pertaining to affiliated councils and corresponding benefits.

2012 Chaplaincy School & Annual Meeting

 

Mark your calendars -- the 2012 CSAM will be held in Phoenix, AZ, March 14-18.  The Arizona Council is excited to be the host.

 

Also, the Winners Federation, which promotes a healthy workplace and healthy racetrack workers, will be hosting its annual conference just prior to CSAM, with some overlapping sessions.
