Moderate exercise dramatically improves brain blood flow in elderly women - Science Daily
Older and stronger: progressive resistance training can build muscle and increase strength as we age - Science Daily
Headlines like these are hitting the front pages in America this week. And yes, they apply to us in Britain, too.
Does climbing the stairs get you DOWN, not UP? Do you suffer from creaking limbs? Do you want to stay active and flexible as you grow older?
Well, just remember that being "retired" doesn't have to mean "tired". Now, in partnership with the University of the Third Age (U3A), we are hosting a special evening to help spruce up our seniors.
Better Body Shop founder Jason Crow and his team will be hosting the night and giving a presentation. It's free, loads of folks have already booked in, and you are very welcome to come along.
The event will be held at The Better Body Shop, in Bat and Ball Road, Sevenoaks, on Saturday, June 11 between 2pm and 4pm.
Among topics being discussed will be the benefits of exercise in retirement, how to avoid aches and pains by taking gentle exercise daily, the value of stretching and posture.
There will be demonstrations by our fitness instructors, who have recently won awards for customer care by the way (and hope to get more, see the KEiBA update!) - so you'll be well looked after.
You can take a look at all our gym equipment and join in a guided tour of our new facilities. All your questions will be answered and we'll even lay on free tea and biscuits.
Do you ever:
· lose your balance?
· feel out of breath easily
· suffer from aching joints when you get out of bed in the morning?
· feel lethargic and a bit down
· lack energy to enjoy life to the full?
If you don't take regular, gentle exercise, you can risk limiting your mobility. So do join us on Saturday, June 11 between 2pm and 4pm. It's free so bring a friend.
ALSO remember that we host classes called "Sprucing up the Seniors" every Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 2pm and 3pm.
