| Race to the Top News | |
VCS Ohio was awarded federal Race to the Top (RTTT) grant funding to improve teacher effectiveness and student performance. One of the ways we are utilizing this funding is by implementing team leaders and specialists among the teaching staff to educate their peers on valuable supplemental software and classroom tools. Team leaders and specialists have provided in-person training and created a library of tutorials that can be accessed anytime. Watch for more details about how VCS Ohio is using RTTT funds.

| Greetings! | |

As I look out the window, I see leaves budding on the trees and new growth all around. What an exciting time! In fact, that's how I look at VCS right now. Although we are facing financial uncertainty in regard to state funding, the time is ripe with opportunity to grow and expand into new areas. Our "Branching" program got its name because it is much like a tree. It not only gives VCS a way to grow and expand, but it also gives school districts a way to expand their course offerings and students a way to build on their educational experience. I see our full-time students as the trunk--a solid foundation-- and our new programs as branches reaching up toward the sky. Together, they form one majestic tree. Thank you for your role in our growth!

| Returning students survey | |
This year we've implemented a new survey to find out whether current students will return to VCS next year. The results will help us plan for next year. We will also try to save the students who said they're not returning or are undecided! The survey is open now and will remain open through the first week of May. Please encourage your students and/or parents to complete the survey if they have not done so already. Here is the link to the survey, which you can paste in your classroom. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SHGBM93 If you have any questions, see Lori Berkheimer or Jill Workman. Thank you!

| Midwest Homeschool Convention was a big success! | |
For the second year in a row, VCS attended the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati. Over 4,500 families were in attendance, including the Duggar Family from TLC's "19 Kids and Counting!" We talked to many families and got a lot of good leads for VCS. See some pictures of our booth below.

| Sugar Maple Parade | |
Kudos to the Anderson family! On April 16, Heidi Anderson and her family marched in the Sugar Maple Parade in Bellbrook on behalf of VCS. They passed out 225 VCS goodie bags and 75 more business cards upon request. Way to go, Heidi and family! Thanks for your initiative and extra effort to make this happen. It is definitely more than expected!
