OGT Make-Up Week

Greetings!
Jim McCordWe are in the second half of the school year now, and I find myself wondering where the time went. It seems like yesterday we had Opening Day at Wedgewood Country Club. We've done so many exciting things this year! I'd like to fill up our "Innovations" board at the office with all of the new things we've implemented. If you have an innovation you'd like to include, please e-mail it to Jill Workman. I want to show our board members and visitors all the ways we've grown and tried new things to make a difference in the life of a student. That's what we're all about!

Send us your student success stories!

Everyone at VCS probably knows our mission by heart: to make a difference in the life of a student. But we would love to know, how have you made a difference this year? Have you helped a student to graduate? Kept them from dropping out?  Boosted their confidence? Share your success stories with us!  VCS would like to compile our student success stories into a comprehensive book. If you have any stories to include, please send them to Jill Workman.

VCS Marketing toolkits

We're working on a new marketing toolkit that will include information about Branching, Credit Recovery, Special Programs, Dual Credit, Adult Second Chance and Summer School. It will be helpful to use with school districts and other organizations that might refer students. We'll show you the toolkit when it's ready! You can use it too when you're talking about the programs offered by VCS.

Have you ever wanted to know what other VCS teachers doing in their classes?

This month, Mrs. Stepp's 6th grade class had a Valentine's Day party. They voted on the activity and chose to have a tic-tac-toe tournament.  Elijah Harris was the tournament winner. The kids also exchanged Valentines by sending them to Mrs. Stepp and sharing them in an Elluminate session. To see the Valentines the student's created, click here.

What have you been doing in your classroom?  Share your stories with us and we'll share them with the entire staff! E-mail Jill Workman.

Help Desk Elluminate sessions held every other Wednesday

ElluminateEvery other Wednesday from 10 am to 12 pm the VCS Help Desk holds Elluminate sessions to cover the common technical problems they get from students. Each session has a small presentation of a certain topic, followed by a question and answer portion.

The latest session was held this past Wednesday and covered the reasons why computers become slow and how students can fix them. The next session is on March 2nd.

Please encourage all your students to attend these sessions and send the Help Desk any ideas you have for future sessions!

 1. What is your favorite thing about VCS?  I have so many favorite things that it is hard to narrow it down to one thing! I love working with our students. I love our staff. I love our quest for making a difference in the lives of our students.

2. What do you want students to accomplish while they attend VCS? A quality education with quality teachers who care about your success!

3. What advice do you want to pass on to students?  Make a schedule and try to stick with it. If your teacher has given you a timeline or syllabus, try your best to stick to it and stay current with your work. Time management is very important for your success in your classes.

Hobby/Interest: Digital Scrapbooking -- and then publishing into books
Season: Summer
Vacation Destination: Cruise to the Caribbean

Childhood memory: I grew up in Missouri. I always looked forward to going to Colorado during the winter to ski. I loved skiing! When we went skiing, it wasn't just my family, but my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins would all load up into a van or two and we would make the drive through the night. We would leave late at night and be on the slopes in the morning.

Watch for the The Pack Press to arrive in your e-mail the third Thursday of each month. If you have any content ideas, send them to Lori Berkheimer or Jill Workman.
