Students can get credit recovery through VCS Ohio

The new VCS credit recovery program provides condensed, accelerated courses to students in need of recovering high school credits.

VCS will assess the student upon entering the program and design an individualized plan to obtain the required credit(s).  The cost is $149 for a 60 hour course and $199 for a 120 hour course for the 2010-2011 school year. For more information, contact Jill Workman.

VCS now offers dual credit

Kent State LogoVCS Ohio has entered into a unique partnership with Kent State University to offer dual credit for high school and college courses. All courses will be offered online, so students do not have to travel to a college campus. It is possible for a student to earn two years of college credit before graduating from high school.  This program is FREE for full-time VCS students.  All others can purchase these courses at a rate of $185 per semester hour.

Students must apply before December 22, 2010 to begin classes in January. Click here for a brochure and application form. For more information, contact the VCS guidance office at (866) 501-9473, option 7. We are also in discussion with Columbus State Community College to offer online dual credit courses. Watch for more details on that developing partnership!

The snow hasn't even fallen yet, and we are already thinking about summer!

The VCS Ohio summer school program gets better each year! Although we haven't finalized our summer school schedule for 2011 yet; it is in the works. Last year we offered two sessions during the summer so students could choose the one that best fit their schedule. It was a huge success! Watch for more details regarding summer school in the near future. Also, if you have any input about what you'd like to see in a summer school program, contact Eric Williams and offer your suggestions.

P.A.S.S. program helps teen parents succeed in school and plan for the future

The Parent and Successful Student (P.A.S.S.) program helps students focus on balancing the responsibilities of being a successful parent as well as student. Designed for parents or parents-to-be, P.A.S.S. students will earn school credit while focusing on topics such as basic child care, surviving and succeeding in the real world and planning for a bright future. This program is for both mothers and fathers.  Contact Candace Kinzig for more information.
