Welcome to First United Methodist Church of Michigan City Greetings!
While reading Psalm 78 I was especially struck by verses five through seven which read, "He, decreed statutes for Jacob and established law in Israel, which He commanded our forefathers to teach to their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds but would keep his commands."
How many years ago was this? It seems to be as relevant in our world today as it was in David's time. God was telling his people to instruct their youth so that they would know him and know of his saving grace. Today, more and more people are declaring that they don't attend church, or that they do not have a religious connection, and given the turmoil in our world it appears that there never has been a greater need to teach God's message to our children than right now! Will we do that or will we allow our Christian beliefs to be lost forever? We do have a choice.

I can hardly believe that Christmas is coming near! I am expecting my Christmas Club account check no later than Wednesday! Now, if only the children knew what they wanted this year...One thing I can count on is that we will be spending a good amount of money once again. Did you know that you can get all kinds of different stores from Scrip? There are 6 pages of participating stores online at www.shopwithscrip.com that you can peruse. Then, you can come to church and place your order. Many companies give "extra rebates" to our organization at this time of year! That means more FREE MONEY for our church! There is a link under the "Quick Links" to a PDF of the companies offering special rebates. There is also a link to EVERYTHING Scrip has available to purchase! Please look at it as well as many, many companies are not listed on our order form.
There is a link to our order form at the top of this email!! Be sure to print it out and bring it to church along with your payment. |
