Greetings!

Well now the second week of the bible study has concluded and again around sixty were in attendance to learn more about Paul's letter to the Galatians. The study continues to point out the ongoing struggles facing Christianity.  Even today we, "the body of believers," continue to create divisions within our own churches and within the Christian community of congregations who surround us.  Will we never learn?

Last week I stated that "we must find new ways to approach, encourage, educate and make disciples for Jesus of the peoples living in our world today."  Further, I requested support from YOU to begin the process of determining what we need to do here at the First United Methodist Church in Michigan City to make that happen.  I asked for your comments and your thoughts.  The question is, "are you interested?"  If you are interested, do you have some ideas that you might like to share with me?

For example, to attract younger men into a fellowship, I have thought about having a sports and games night at the church.  Fathers, sons and their friends could attend together to watch a football, basketball or hockey game on the big screens or play competitive games in the game room.  Light snacks could be served with the timing of the gathering more conducive to the schedules of our younger families.  The goal is simply to show that coming together in a Christian environment can be, and is, enjoyable.  No pressure, just good wholesome fun with Dads, sons and friends.  If there is an interest in this type of activity I would be glad to work with you to make it happen.    How about a father/son bowling tourney or a father/son golf outing?  If you have other ideas please let me know that also.  My email is jvwiii@comcast.net.  God Bless!

Chocolate Covered Easter Eggs

Once again our Easter egg production team will be making delicious chocolate covered Easter eggs.  The proceeds will benefit the restoration of our beautiful stained glass windows.  We have five fillings available this year:  peanut butter, maple/pecan, butter crème, coconut and a new flavor this year of double chocolate (chocolate inside/chocolate outside).  The cost is still $2.50 per egg.

We hope you will take orders from your friends, co-workers and neighbors.  Just take their order, collect their money and put it in an envelope and bring it to the "egg table" on Sunday mornings beginning February 27.  We will continue to sell eggs up through Palm Sunday, April 17.  Order forms are available in the Narthex.  You may print out an order form by clicking HERE
