... the following seniors who were honored at a luncheon sponsored by the Fairfield Rotary Club: Mary Boyle, Meghan Cassidy, Gina DeSimone, Jerelyn Figueroa, Erica Lane, Michael Martinsky, Kerri Moffatt, Victor Olivares, Mary Kate Vicenzi, Maurice Wallace. These students were honored for their outstanding academic achievements during high school and were guests, along with Mr. Cipriano, Father Cipriani and Superintendent Dr. Margaret Dames, at a luncheon this past week.
... Mary Boyle '12 who was a recipient of a Kiwanis Club of Fairfield scholarship. Mary was honored at a luncheon this past week. She was joined by her parents and Fr. Bill Sangiovanni.
... Anthony Searles '13 who has been chosen to participate in the Connecticut High School Junior Select All-Star Game by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association. The game will be played at Plainville High School on June 13.

Seniors will begin taking final exams on Friday, June 1. Underclassmen will begin taking exams on Thursday, June 7. Families are reminded that all 2011-12 financial obligations must be complete before students may take exams.

Appalachia Pasta Night Fundraiser a Success
The Appalachia Club hosted a pasta dinner last week to raise funds for their upcoming Neon, Kentucky trip which will be held from July 7 to July 15. Sales topped over two-hundred tickets. The club consists of 35 dedicated sophomores, juniors, and seniors who successfully completed the requirement for the trip. Throughout the year, each club member worked to raise funds that will defray the total cost of the $20,000.00 trip. This will be Notre Dame's 21st annual trip to Appalachia.

Girl's Softball Team Goes Green

The following students from the girl's softball team participated in a go green project on Saturday, May 19. The girls helped to clear space at Barnum Road Elementary School in Bridgeport and then helped to plant a garden: Joane Delia '15, Brittany Santos '12, Taylor Springer '13, Becky Stefanatos '15, Amanda Goncalves '13, Jamilla Pommills '12, Amy Castellanos '15, Michelle Scatamacchia '13, Laura Pekar '13, and Nadia Orjiugo '14.

Art Class Creates Surreal Sculptures
Art students recently created sculptures in the style of Giacometti: tall expressive figures. The idea was to have their sculptures resemble a bronze statue and represent a shadow creating an abstract figure, long and simple, like a cast shadow. To the right, sculptures created by seniors Jonathan Karosy, Mike Foster and Alyssa Tynan are displayed outside.

Love Life Basketball Tournament
The Love Life Basketball Tournament is looking for teams and/or sponsors for their upcoming event which will be held from June 29 - July 1st at the Sacred Heart University Pitt Center. Notre Dame High School has been designated as one of the recipients of the proceeds from this event. The proceeds which we receive will be directly used for Notre Dame student scholarships.

ND Uniform and Clothing Sale
The Notre Dame Bookstore now has the final sale prices of the year on uniforms and sweatshirts - current stock of Polo Shirts are now $20.00, Uniform Sweaters are now $30.00 (Navy Blue in most sizes, Natural in Large & XL only), Uniform Fleeces (Medium & XL only) are just $30.00. Also available are ND Hooded Sweatshirts for $25.00 and Crew Sweatshirts for just $15.00 - both available in Navy and Gray. Quantities and sizes are limited. Items will be on sale until June 15. Football
The Football Team will be holding a car wash at Notre Dame on Saturday, June 9 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. Money raised will be used for program costs, such as new field equipment and team t-shirts.
There will be a mandatory team meeting for all students who intend on playing football in the fall on Monday, June 4 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in room 305.
Cheerleading
Cheerleading tryouts will be held on Tuesday, May 29, Wednesday, May 30 and Thursday, May 31 from 4 to 6:30 pm in the gym. All physicals must be up to date and turned in to the nurse in order to try-out.
Girl's Soccer
There will be a mandatory meeting for all girls interested in playing soccer in the fall on Wednesday, May 30 at 1:45 pm in Room 212. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. If you cannot attend, but are interested in playing, please see Mr. Bleggi.
Girl's Volleyball
There will be a mandatory meeting for all girls interested in playing volleyball next fall on Thursday, May 31 at 1:45 pm in Room 212. Please make every effort to attend this meeting

 The Fairfield Registrar of Voters will be at Notre Dame on Wednesday, May 30 from 10 am -12 pm to register any students who are 18 (or will be 18 by Election Day, November 6). Students from any town can register -- you do not need to live in Fairfield. Some form of ID is necessary to register (student id, license, etc.). Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to vote in the upcoming Presidential election.

Golf Is Right Around the Corner ...
The Notre Dame Bob Shea Memorial Golf Tournament will take place in seven short weeks on Monday, June 25th at the Redding Country Club. Our tournament was a great success last year with over 100 players and we are quickly filling up spots for this year's event. 2012-13 Tuition Agreements
Please remember to return your signed 2012-13 tuition agreement with your May tuition payment. Also, remember that there is a $200 tuition discount for tuition paid in full by June 15, 2012 (as long as scholarships/financial aid total less than $2,500).
