Happy Mother's Day!!!

The Notre Dame Family wishes all mothers a very happy Mother's Day on Sunday. We will remember all mothers - living and deceased - in our prayers this weekend. We are truly grateful and blessed for all the guidance, patience and love.

Congratulations to...

...Derek Trent Hudson '14, who was sworn in as a 2012 Young Adult Bridgeport Police Commissioner at The City Hall Annex in Bridgeport on April 24. The ceremony was officiated by Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch and Police Chief Joseph Gaudett. Trent has accepted the oath of the Young Adult Police Commissioner to protect and serve his community. He was one of nine other youth who participated in the swearing-in ceremony.

... Michael Martinsky '12 and Mary Kate Vicenzi '12 who were the Notre Dame recipients of the CIAC Scholar Athlete Award at a ceremony this past Sunday at the Aqua Turf. Michael and Mary Kate were selected based upon their superior academic achievements and their athletic accomplishments.

Drama Club Update

The Drama Club and Cast and Crew of Grease thank everyone who supported this year's spring musical, Grease, last weekend.
A special thanks to our seniors who made this year's musical a great one -- Alex Audet, Bianka Bell, Geissy Bitencourt, David Bova, Mary Boyle, Medjine Jean Jacques, Kerri Mofatt, Corinna Santos, Kelsey Senteio, and Dan Tozzi.

Safe Driving Assembly

Notre Dame sponsored a safe driving assembly for all students this past Tuesday. Bob Green from Survive the Drive presented a very compelling argument for the students about how important safe driving is for those in their vehicle as well as those in other cars and pedestrians. Bob shared his personal story as well as sobering crash statistics and some important safe driving tips.

ND Senior Experience Program Underway

Twenty three Notre Dame seniors began their Senior Experience projects on Monday. These students will be completing a 120 hour internship over the course of four weeks. Six students are interning in education, many of them at their own middle schools. Five students obtained internships in the medical field - three at local hospitals (St. Vincent's and Milford Hospital), one in a school health office and one in a doctor's office. One student is interning in a local dentist's office. Three students are working in law firms, two at a printing and graphic design shop and one each in real estate, the local Army recruiting office, the Bridgeport Public Housing Agency, the Ansonia Nature Center, an interior design firm and one student is working in a sales and marketing position.

Come Walk for a Cure

Carrie Lautenslager '13 was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease in the fall of 2010 called FSGS. The disease causes scarring to the kidney's filtering system and often leads to kidney failure and transplant. Carrie is stable and her function is good for now, but many kids are not as lucky and it can change anytime. Please join us as we walk for a cure on May 20 at 9:30 am at Sherwood Island Park in Westport. You can also donate by clicking here and help in her family's efforts to support Nephcure Foundation.

Senior Prom Information

Notre Dame will host the Senior Prom on Thursday, May 17 at the Italian Community Center in Stamford. The prom will be held from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am. Formal attire is required. Tickets are $85.00 per person, and students have requested a buffet dinner consisting of penne ala vodka, chicken francaise, roast sirloin of beef, salad, and vegetables.

All non-Notre Dame attendees (as dates), must have a guest form on file with the Notre Dame main office by Tuesday, May 15. These forms have already been distributed to seniors and an administrator at the student's school must sign this form before it is returned to Notre Dame. Non-ND students must also show photo identification at the door.

The Senior Prom is always an enjoyable and memorable night for our students. We are looking forward to a safe and fun evening on May 17.

Appalachia Club Pasta Dinner

The Appalachia Club will sponsor its annual Pasta Dinner on Wednesday, May 16 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The fundraiser helps to offset the cost of the group's annual trip to Kentucky. 36 students and 14 chaperones will participate in this year's trip in early July. Tickets for the pasta dinner are $10 each and can be purchased from any trip member or by contacting the main office.
