... Anthony Searles '13 who was featured in a recent Connecticut Post article profiling members of the 2008 Shelton National Little League team that went to the Little League World Series. To read the article, click here.

... Michael Lenard '13 who was Notre Dame's nominee for the Governor's Scholar Program. Michael was recognized as a semi-finalist and was selected based upon his academic achievements in high school.
... The boys' lacrosse team who was voted as the Fairfield County Sports Team of the Week.

... Mark Salvioli '13 who is the 2012 recipient of the School of Engineering of Fairfield University & Sikorsky Aircraft "Excellent in Mathematics and Science Award". Mark, along with his parents Joann and Felix, will be honored at a luncheon at Fairfield University in June.
... Mary Boyle '12 and Alex Audet '12 who were Notre Dame's recipients of the Southwest Conference Leadership Award, presented at a banquet at the Stone Barn in Monroe on Thursday evening. Mary and Alex were honored for their contributions to the ND and local communities, in addition to the athletic contributions, during their four years in high school.

Grease Hits the Stage this Weekend
Come support the cast and crew of Grease this weekend at Sacred Heart University's Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts. Performance are on Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 2:00 and 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Saturday night is Student Night...only $5 a ticket for ND students. Come out and support your classmates!

Care Club Visits Jewish Home For the Elderly
 Members of the Care Club visited the Jewish Home Day Care Center in Fairfield on Thursday, May 3. Students spent their time talking & dancing with the clients.

ND "Angels"
On Saturday, April 28, a group of students assisted a mother and son, both suffering from heart complications, move out of their apartment into a new one in Black Rock. Mrs. Cavallaro could not be more grateful for those ND students she described as "The Angels" who came to her help. Her "angels" were Mary Kate Vicenzi '12, Jacqueline Rsaza '12, Thomas Allen '12, David Malvicini '12, Michael Martinsky '12 and Connor Terry '12.
Freshman Field Day
 On Friday, April 27, the freshman class hosted the annual Freshmen Field Day. Each freshman was assigned two little brothers or sisters from Hall Elementary School in Bridgeport, grades 3 through 6. The weather was somewhat chilly but that did not prevent everyone from participating in all 10 events with tremendous enthusiasm and energy. About 300 students in all participated in this very successful and very fun day.
A special word of immense gratitude for the following Seniors who assisted with Freshman Field Day: Margie Kuntz, Mike Martinsky, Dave Malvicini, Brittany Santos, Mary Kate Vincenzi, Amanda Marini, Corinna Santos, Jordan D'Aurio, Christina Rodrigues, Chelsea Lipscomb, Shirley Virgile, Amanda Supple, Jamilla Pommillis, Kelsey Senteio, Dominise Carter, Dominique Williams, Garfield Campbell, Victor Olivares, Dan Tozzi, Jon Karosy, Jasmine Rodriguez, Theo Tumba, Kevin Josue, Rachel Dorosh, Kyle Weeks, Victoria Schnaufer, Meghan Cassidy, Mary Boyle, Margarita Vorobieva and Deana Accettullo.
Also, a shout out of gratitude to the following Juniors who came to assist with the Field Day Festivities providing us with much needed tech support and entertainment: Evan Yiannoulis, RJ Cremin and Steven Meyer.

On Friday, April 27, the junior class gathered at Grassy Hill Country Club for the Junior Prom. The theme was "New York, New York" and juniors were greeted with New York landmarks, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and, of course, "Big Apples". Congratulations to Mark Salvioli, who was named the prince of the prom, Zach Dobbins, who was named king and Jasmin Williams and Julie Rivera, who were named co-queens. Special thanks to Juniors Lauren Jones, Sandi Samrin and Corey McDonald for all of their hard work in planning the event and thanks to Mrs. Miller for overseeing the festivities.

Spring Open House a Success
Special thanks to everyone who helped spread the word regarding our open house last Sunday. We had a very good turn out and had the opportunity to meet with dozens of prospective families. Specials thanks to the faculty, staff, students and parents who all came to ND on a Sunday afternoon to share their ND perspective. |
Notre Dame will host the Senior Prom on Thursday, May 17 at the Italian Community Center in Stamford. The prom will be held from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am. Formal attire is required. Tickets are $85.00 per person, and students have requested a buffet dinner consisting of penne ala vodka, chicken francaise, roast sirloin of beef, salad, and vegetables.
All non-Notre Dame attendees (as dates), must have a guest form on file with the Notre Dame main office by Tuesday, May 15. These forms have already been distributed to seniors and an administrator at the student's school must sign this form before it is returned to Notre Dame. Non-ND students must also show photo identification at the door.
The Senior Prom is always an enjoyable and memorable night for our students. We are looking forward to a safe and fun evening on May 17.

Appalachia Club Pasta Dinner
The Appalachia Club will sponsor its annual Pasta Dinner on Wednesday, May 16 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The fundraiser helps to offset the cost of the group's annual trip to Kentucky. 36 students and 14 chaperones will participate in this year's trip in early July. Tickets for the pasta dinner are $10 each and can be purchased from any trip member or by contacting the main office. |
Senior Yearbook Portraits
Members of the Class of 2013 are reminded that their senior yearbook portraits will be taken in school next week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Students must wear the appropriate clothing for the picture and bring the sitting fee with them. Information, including appointment times, was mailed home in late April regarding the dress code and sitting fee options. Contact Mr. Cipriano with any questions.

Lancers Baseball
The Notre Dame baseball team will be playing at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Saturday, May 5 at 3:15 pm versus Bunnell. Admission is $3 for students and $5 for adults. Senior citizens and children under 12 are free.
Fall Sports Sign-Ups
Any student interested in playing a fall sport (boys/girls cross country, girls volleyball, girls soccer, boys soccer, football, and cheerleading), please sign-up in Mr. Bleggi's office, room 201. Cheerleading There will be a cheerleading meeting on Wednesday, May 16 at 7:00 pm in the gym for all girls interested in trying out for the cheerleading squad. Tryout dates will be announced soon.
ND Welcomes New Coaches The Athletic Department is pleased to announce the appointment of three new coaches for the 2012-13 year: girls' soccer Head Coach - Bob Salvador, girls' volleyball Head Coach - Jon Mercado and Assistant Boy's Hockey Coach - Mike Wolfe '99.
Bob Salvador comes to ND with over 30 years experience as a head soccer coach/trainer for high quality interscholastic soccer programs in Connecticut. He played Professional Soccer for the Connecticut Yankees in the American Soccer League and played semi-professional soccer for 16 years with various teams in Connecticut.
Jonathan Mercado is a recent graduate from Sacred Heart University. Mercado brings a wealth of volleyball experience to the program, having competed on Sacred Heart's Division 1 mens volleyball team. Beyond personal playing experience, Mercado has coached the local Nike Volleyball Camp, as well as Connecticut's TCA volleyball club.
Mike Wolfe, currently President & CEO of WAM Enterprises, was
a two-time All-State Goaltender while at ND and helped lead his team to a Division I State Championship in 1999. After graduating from ND, he went on to play Division I Hockey at Fairfield University and Providence College and has been a Goalie coach for different organizations.

Walk For Lupus
 Do you still need service hours? Volunteers are needed on Sunday, May 6 for the 3rd Annual Fairfield Walk for Lupus at Westfield Trumbull Mall. Anyone interested in volunteering should be at the mall at 7:00 am (near Lord and Taylor).

Sister Marion Reilly Scholarship Applications
Members of the current freshmen, sophomore and junior classes are invited to apply for the Sister Marion Reilly Scholarship. This $2,000 scholarship is awarded to three students with qualifications based upon Christian dedication, excellence in leadership, academic endeavor, service to school and community, and participation in the arts and extra curricular activities. The deadline for submitting applications is this Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Click here to obtain an application.

The Notre Dame Bob Shea Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on June 25, 2012 at the Redding Country Club in Redding. Pre-College Program at Sacred Heart University
Members of the Classes of 2013 and 2014 are invited to apply for Sacred Heart University's Pre-College High School Summer Program this July. Fifteen college credit courses in subjects ranging from Financial Accounting to Marketing in Fashion to Effective Speaking are being offered. Each course is $1,035. Orders are now being taken for 2012 Yearbooks. The cost is $75 and orders can be placed by clicking here. Students may also bring a check for $75 to the main office to reserve a copy. Yearbooks arrive in May. Only 42 yearbooks remain available for pre-order. Get yours before they sell out!
