Spring Open House This Sunday

All prospective families are invited to Notre Dame's Spring Open House on Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 pm. Whether in the sixth through eighth grade or a potential transfer student, all are welcome to tour the school and meet with members of the faculty and student body. Please help us to spread the word to your family and friends.

Notre Dame Welcomes Bishop Lori

As is an annual custom, Bishop Lori celebrated mass for our entire school community, with Fr. Bill and Fr. Cipriani con-celebrating, this past Wednesday. As Bishop Lori began his remarks, he reflected upon the recent growth of Notre Dame and then shared a very student-centered homily with our student body. Following mass, both Fr. Bill and Mr. Cipriano had the opportunity to thank Bishop Lori for all that he has done in support of Catholic education and specifically for our school over the past decade. Mary Boyle '12 presented the Bishop with an over-sized thank you card, a donation to a charity of the Bishop's choice and a personalized Notre Dame clock. Following mass, Bishop Lori met with a dozen students for a Q&A session.

As Bishop Lori concludes his tenure as the fourth Bishop of Bridgeport, this is a great opportunity to reflect back upon all that he has done for our school community. Without question, he has been a constant supporter of Catholic education throughout the 38 schools in our Diocese. Without his direct support, for example, our recent partnership with Sacred Heart University would not have been possible. He has been a champion of Notre Dame since his arrival and on behalf of all of the students, faculty, and parents who have been so positively impacted by his leadership and guidance, we say thank you and good luck in Baltimore!

Art Class Update

Art students have created a drawing that consisted of a single line and could be completed in about 30 seconds. After creating their image, they had to use a light to draw their image in the air where it was captured.

One of the 20th century's greatest artists was quite adept with light painting himself. The great Pablo Picasso experimented with light painting in his later days. Picasso stood in front of the camera, armed with a flashlight, and traced his style of imagery in the air before the shutter slammed shut. The result was an illuminating set of photos that show the artist at work - a wild set of self portraits where this famed painter shared the focal point with his art.
